I have similar problem. I found this solution that may help you. My problem insists tho.

>>> 5 flashes indicates a faulty printhead or possibly a problem with the p/head contacts. Try removing the head which is easier if you take the cartridges out first(no tools required) and re-seat it having checked the contacts for dirt.

If that doesn't work it may be that the waste ink tank is full. Try this ...
Canon S9000, S300, S400, i550, i560, i850, i860, i865, i9100, i9950, PIXMA iP3000 above,
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

  1. Turn off Canon i550, i560, i850, i860, i865, i9100, i9950 Printers
  2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
  3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
  4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
  5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
  6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
  7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
  8. Your Canon i550, i560, i850, i860, i865, i9100, i9950 Printers should respond as normal.

3. you're now in service mode (you can release POWER now)

for reset waste tank reset is 4 presses of the RESUME button. To confirm, press POWER once

5200/P08 - Orange and green light blinking 8 times Description:

A service error has occurred.
Resolution:
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Disconnect the power cable.
  3. Open the printer cover.
  4. Check for any orange protective tape or white polystyrene and remove if necessary.
  5. Check that there are no foreign objects in the printer (such as a paper clip) and remove if necessary.
  6. Close the cover.
  7. Reconnect and turn on.

Keep getting error code 5200, turn off and turn on again

Hello, you need to reset the waste ink counter:
  1. Start with the printer OFF
  2. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER
  3. release RESUME
  4. press RESUME twice, then release POWER
  5. Let green light blink until printer is done futzing
Number of presses Light color Function 0 presses green Test print (or exit service mode on i960) 1 press orange EEPROM info print (plus grid nozzle diagnostic on i960) 2 presses green EEPROM initialize 3 presses orange Reset waste ink counter

The yellow and green light flashes and printer error 5200 message displays

Error NO. 5200 is caused by ink absorber almost full so you need to reset your printer.. To solve the problem follow the instruction step by step ;
1. Turn off the printer without pulling the power cords.
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Then Press Resume button 5 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. You will notice that the Alternate Blinking error is gone, this means that the printer is in Service Mode state. thanks

I have a canon printer IP 2770 .....i try to one my documents and shows that error 5200... what does it mean

Here's How to Reset Canon IP2770 Error 5200:
1. The printer is turned off and plugged the power cord.
2. Press Resume button 2 seconds
then press the POWER button until the green light on (when pressing the POWER button, Resume button ... jgn released first)
3. Then release the RESUME button, but do not release the POWER button.
4. While the POWER button is still depressed, press the Resume button 5 times. Led will light turns green orange with the last glow orange. (do not be mistaken 4x because the printer will die completely, but it is temporary too) Then ...
5. Release both buttons simultaneously.
6. Led will blink briefly and then will glow GREEN.
7. And the computer will detect new hardware, just ignore ...

Hello, I have a Canon MP610 Printer it wont work it just keep showing an 5200 error, on the screen just says Turn off ..Switching it on the green and amber lights on the main panel alternate flashing

Error 5200 is a service error
Follow this solution step by step
  1. With the printer turned on,unplug it
  2. Open the top and bring the ink cartridge holder to the middle
  3. Raise the gray bar and remove the print head assembly with the cartridges in it
  4. Lower the gray bar with the head missing and close the top with the head out
  5. Restore the power,wait till the printer starts
  6. It will tell you to put in the cartridges, Put in the cartridge
  7. Restore the print head, close the top and the printer will resume working
Error will be removed.
If you have already tried all of the above and still you have error then it is probably that your Canon printer is in need of servicing by a service professional.

Start with the printer OFF
