Solved it! You need to hold the OK button on the remote and the OK button on the projector (not the menu button) and after 5 seconds the lamp reset dialog pops up. Why this is such a closely guarded secret I'll never know so spread the word!

Intermittent vertical black lines samsung hlp5067w

even technicians who are familiar with those units, before installing new lamps, they use a 'calibration unit' for that or any particular model lamp and calibrate them right after installation. If you don't have the proper calibrator and adjust them right after you installed them, you will get that result. Even experience techs come across that problem if the calibration is not done properly. Also, each lamp for a different color value, has its own calibration/sync values.

Replaced lamp in 55vg825 approx 1500hrs ago & lately the picture has lost brightness compared to when the new bulb was installed. Is there another adjustment or is the bulb defective already? Past...

bjac,

You are correct about lamps working or not, but that is the extremes. Over the course of operation all lamps lose brightness as the hours add up. All lamps will lose their brightness over time.

Typically lamps only last at best 6000 to 8000 hours. That is not long if the unit is used most of the day everyday. In addition the cheaper the quality of the lamp, cost and manufacture, the quicker they go down hill.

Assuming that you have a low quality lamp what you are experiencing is normal. You may be able to improve the brightness and clarity of the picture by cleaning the lenses, mirrors and screen. I have a tip at

http://www.fixya.com/support/r4690955-clean_lense_screen_in_projection_tv

This tip is labeled projection tv but is also appropriate for cleaning an LCD or DLP unit.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

How do I reset the lamp counter

You CAN reset the lamp hours. It is surprisingly easy.

Hold UP on the projector until the lamp hours appear. Then press left or right to reset.

This took me a while to find! But it's in the service manual.

Dell 3300 MP Projector

Hello,

I think this is a lamp issue. Even though your lamp might have an advertised time of 3000 hrs from Dell, it can fail and dim a lot earlier than that. Often within 1000 hrs a projector lamp's brightness can be reduced by up to 40%. Projector lamps brightness and lamp life varies according to how you use your projector and the environment it is in. Our company sells projector lamps and has created a YouTube video to help people get the most out of their projector lamps. You can see the video below. If you decide to buy a new lamp we have the lamp you need in stock at Projector Lamp Experts.

Hope this helps..

Lamp and temp lights come on after power up and stay on. Lamp only has 330 hours on it.

OK, that explains it. The bulb you have installed in the projector might be the original bulb that came with the projecoter when it was new. Just becuase it states 334 hours does not mean it is new. In fact, you could have a original bulb with 3000 hrs and reset the hour timer on the projector, which means your 3000 hour bulb might have 3334 hours on it because the person who owned it before you, reset the hour timer.. Best bet, buy a new bulb and reset the hour meter and see what happens. If you have the same problem, then your ballest might needs to be replace which is rare...
