If it is only 2 months old, then you still have warranty.
A purple lcd, viewfinder and photo is a 100% CCD failure.
If out of warranty, not worth the repair.

My Lumix camera DMC-TZ3 also recently having this problem. I had it only 3 years, I contacted Panasonic, they ask me to send in the camera. But in your opinion, if out of warranty, not worth the repair. I should not send back to them?

If the LCD displays correctly on previous photos then the problem is more than likely a CCD or associated ribbon connector failure due to moisture/condensation or age/misuse. Good luck with finding a replacement part!

Purple lcd display

Hello tonyj111, If your old pictures look fine on the display, then the problem is related to the ccd sensor itself. The purple color is displayed because of a problem in the signal transmision from the ccd sensor to the camera's main processor. This is done using 3 channels one for each primary color (RGB red green blue). If the connector to the sensor is broken, or got out of place (loose) because some mechanic shock or symilar, the data processing woun't come out right. It is purple because your camera's processor mess up blue and red signals therefore resulting same purple instead of blue or red colours. In order to fix this you will need to either send the camera to a service center to have those connections checked (if your camera is still in warranty you will want to do this) or ask me for further instructions if you wish to try to dissasemble the camera yourself. In either way the problem is fixable and in most probabilities a cheap fix will work. Good luck

Purple Pictures

This is a CCD sensor problem and should be replaced. Try to have it done free of charge by Sony even though your camera is an old model because CCD sensor should last 10 years +.
