MY IPOD TOUCH NEEDS TO BE RESTORED BUT MY FIRMWARE IS CORRUPTED

I'm thinking it's your firmware. Maybe it's corrupted. Try restoring it on your computer. Either back to factory settings or perhaps an updated firmware. (This sounds like a software glitch) Hopefully this solves your problem :)

well! man it`s that your ipod`s firmware or software has some corruption.i don`t know how it came but you can fix it by upgrading your ipod`s firmware using itunes and clicking on check for firmware or upgrade firmware.
even i do have ipod touch and i love it.

Plug the usb cable into the Ipod and NOT into the computer.
Hold the Home Button down for 5 second (do not release it)
Then Press and hold the Power Button for approx 10 secs (count them out)
Your iPod will reboot.
Release the power button and continue holding the Home button for an additional 27secs.
You may see the screen go blank or not.
Plug the USB end into the computer with itunes open.
Your ipod will mount in recovery mode.
Restore it and Your all set.

If you are trying to jailbreak it, restore it with the firmware that you intend to do the jailbreak with.
when you restore, press shift and Restore at the same time and chose the firmware version from you computer.
I would suggest you use quickpwn to jailbreak your touch. It seems to be the most effective and relaible.

it can be fixed by buying a new ipod touch.
