Belt came off

After trying to sew a piece of vinyl to a piece of fleece (apparently, vinyl is too thick for this simple machine?), it appears a belt has come loose inside the machine. I'm getting it fixed at a repair shop ($40 to reattach the belt) and would like to know how to fix it myself in the future. It seems silly to pay almost 1/2 or more of the purchase price after using the machine only a few times.
How can I reattach the belt on my own?

Well that is very nice idea you can fix with your self provide talls most commonly use.Set of screw driver, open and socket wrench, pliers etc...Remove the top cover plate by loosening bolt holding the cover and cover besides the handwheel where the motor was installed besure it was unplug from ac source(No power)Check the motor holder that attaching from casing. You can see the motor coupled by the belt.In the motor holder there is a bolt slot adjustment for tensioning belt tighning and loosening. If you want to disconnect the belt and replaced loosen the tension and pull out the belt.Sometime belt are sliping to the pulley it affect
the sewing machine operation, you can tighten from adjusting the tension of the belt.adjust not so tight after adjusting try to run manually first by turning handwheel freely if the motor will run freely with out obtruction no power supply. If your satiesfied try to run with power supply but jag twice first to be sure no problem occured before continous operation.

My fabric is too thick. How to set my machine to sew through the 4 fleece layers?

Some domestic machines are not designed to take more than a certain thickness. Your machine may not have the power to deal with 4 layers of fleece so it goes into a safety setting and shows the error message.

I need assistance with the settings for a zig zag stitch that does not appear to be sewing correctly.

Your tension is off. Start by using the sewing computer setting for thick fabric. Sew "test swatches" on scraps of the fleece you're planning to sew until your swatch stitches look correct.

What number do I set the Tension for sewing fleece fabric on a singer classic

No pre-set "setting" value for fleece, try a test sew to see how machine corrects for thicknesses. If sewing a lot of fleece remember to change needle when you go back to standard fabrics. The fiber dulls rotary cutter blade and dulls needles quickly.

I am trying to sew fleece fabric.I cannot get the stitches to bind.sew together. On cotton sewing fine.but on fleece not. help!!

you have to use a different needle on fleece than you do on cotton, look in the sewing machine manual and see which needle is suggested for your sewing machine and also if the tension needs to be adjusted.

I have a Kenmore Sewing Machine model 385.16554, will this machine sew fleece

Yes, your Kenmore should sew fleece. However, if the fleece is very thick, it may be more difficult. Be sure to use a new needle and a needle recommended for fleece.

What tension setting should I use for6 layers of polar fleece on my brother PS 1800?

Depending on the thickness of fleece I would go back about 1-2 settings, being that your tension on bottom is already set correctly

I broke a needle sewing some fleece that was too thick. I got all the pieces of the needle. Now it won't pick up the bobbin thread. Is there something else I can do or do I take it in?

I called the Bernina dealer and they said the timing was probably off and needed to brought in. 4-5 day turn around and about $70. That's if it doesn't need parts. The dogs don't get new halloween costumes this year. I don't have 4-5 days to wait.

What Settings should I use to sew thick Vinyl

First thing you want to do is put in a size 18 needle. Second, you still might just need to leave your tension set midway. Tweak it a hair one way and then the other to get a smooth stitch.
