The exact nature of the creaking is important, and you have not provided enough info to narrow down the problem. The only "creaking" noise I have ever heard like that was coming from the front wheel. If it is going "creak -creak-creak" and changes as the car changes speed, I would check that.
This is the lower ball joint. It is dry and worn out. Have it checked to make sure. But if there is a lot of rust there this is a sure sign. If you heard any pops with the noise, this to tells you it's the ball joint. Lower control arm bushing can also make noise, but is it more of a squeak, rubber
In some freezers they build up excessive vacuum which pulls the plastic housing away from the internal polyurethane insulation, hence the creaking sound. You can make a vacuum breaker by attaching a small stick or similar to the bottom of the door gasket, this will break the vacuum without losing temperature.
There's a chance that the ball joints need grease. This should help, however once they have started to make noise like that due to lack of grease, they usually have gone bad. Replacement may be the only remedy. Hope this helps.
BFULLAWAY had the answer, I believe. My ice maker does the same thing, groaning and creaking for a few seconds, stopping briefly, then starts creaking again. This is due to ice stuck inside and it will make no ice as a result. Usually I see a piece of ice protruding and knock it out. Happened recently, but I saw no ice. Took a cup of hot tap water (not boiling) and poured it into the compartments where cubes form. (Made sure ice tray was in place to catch water.) I banged on the side and a misshapened cube fell out. Creaking/groaning stopped and unit began to function normally.
