Are all A/C to USB power converters the same? i.e. Apple & Sena products use same voltage & Wattage output from the A/C component?

I just got a Sena AMH10 bluetooth set that provided only USB recharge cords. The question is can I use an Apple A/C to USB converter to charge the Sena product? It seems that all USB input devices would need to have the same requirements,(Power levels), or the USB idea is not workable.

No not all USB chargers or cords are the same. Notable differences are the current that they will supply. That said I think the Apple USB adapter should work fine as a charger for your bluetooth.

SOURCE: my flat screen wont power on

I called ProMedia and spoke to their Tech Support folks. The blinking green light means that the powerboard within the LCD has malfunctioned. It will require servicing if under warranty. If out of warranty it was suggested that buy a new one because of cost.

Many USB power supplies will have the right plug. I picked one up by buying a cheap USB hub, What you want to look for (most likely on the bottom of the power supply) is VOLTAGE Output: 5.0 VDC, POWER Output: 1.0 amp or (1000ma) and the center hole is the positive side. I have even seen some BluTooth earpiece charges that supply what you need.

The output of the generator is listed as a constant voltage and a maximum current or wattage - that could also be thought of as capacity.

Typically, it would be rated for 120 or 120/240 volts for generators sold in North America and the wattage could be as low as 3,000 - 5,000 to substantially more than that. If you were to look at the watts or amps while a connected light bulb were turned on, you would see the voltage stay at 120V, but the amps would go from 0 to .833 Amps - and the wattage from 0 to 100 (assuming a 100 W bulb). Next, connect a toaster - again the voltage stays at 120, but the amps and wattage would jump from .833A and 100W to 8 or 9 amps and 1100 watts. As soon as the toast was done - the amps and wattage would drop back to .833A and 100W. The same could hold true for a well pump or air conditioner that is connected to the generator.. these devices turn on and off automatically as determined by a pressure switch or thermostat. Seeing a wattage or current that fluctuates is normal as the amount of power needed from the generator changes as the devices turn on and off by them selves.

Also, it is not unusual for motor operated devices to draw 2 or 3 times as much amps or wattage during the first few seconds when starting as opposed to what it uses when running.

Wattage is Voltage times Current (amps) so IF you know the wattage and voltage then you simply divide wattage by the voltage.

Bought an lg 3d smart tv. It has NO input/output jacks whatsoever, just hdmi & usb jacks. Wii does not have usb. How in the world am I suppose to hook this up? Is there a special adapter I need?

The original Wii console has Component, Composite or S-Video out. Your best bet is the Component out with a component video to HDMI converter. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/770114-REG/KanexPro_RGBRLHD_Component_to_HDMI_Audio_Video.html is one of these converters. You'll also need the RCA component video (3 RCA plugs) and audio cables (2 plugs) and an HDMI cable. These aren't sold in the box with the converters. Before buying a converter, check the output signal resolution.

There are products called Step Up transformers/Step Down (Voltage Converters) that can be used. We use these For our 220VAC Australian manufactured lasers when we need to run them in a Dr.'s office that only has US 110VAC.

It is actually a step-up transformer you need- from 120v to 220 v.
There are many of these transformers or converters listed on the web. Do a search " 120 v 60 hz to 220 v 60hz converter. "
The critical feature is to have a converter that has a wattage rating equal to or greater than the appliance that is plugged into the converter. It is best to a converter with a higher wattage rating than the appliance beacuse most appliances have a surge of current at initial startup.

Hi Bart,
You will find there is a specification plate on the rear of the unit.
It should have a rating on it showing the wattage of the unit. This is usually the amount needed to operate all the functions of the boombox.
The wattage is your input voltage multiplied by the current draw in amps. So the amperage is the rated wattage of the unit divided by the input voltage.
Usually all power goes through the transformer, so I would use this input amperage as a guide, and assuming there is no power loss, use the same calculation for the output - you know it is 9 volts, so the wattage going to the unit is the same as the input wattage, so you can calculate the amperage from this.
Transformers usually work on AC input/output, so there will also be a rectifier to convert the AC to DC for your boombox.
I would add 10 - 20% above your calculation to make sure you have sufficient power. Also I suggest that you install a fuse between your transformer and the boombox for safety.

This is a copy from the Radio Shack site. The quick answer is go to pretty much any electronic store or most travel stores and buy a Foreign Power Converter.

AC to AC Power Conversion (Foreign Voltage Converters) Purpose of Converter / Explanation of Operation AC-to-AC voltage converters, or travel converters, are designed to convert the voltage used in a foreign country to the voltage required for a particular AC device. These converters are either transformer-based or solid-state, and this affects what type of devices the converter can power. In addition to converting the power, you will often need to also use a plug adapter. Plug adapters are generally either built into the converter, or provided as separate parts. They are also sold separately, for use with multi-voltage devices that are designed to convert the power internally.
Selecting a Converter These are one of the more confusing of the power conversion devices. Because of the range of voltages, plug types and converter designs, many customers find that they need help determining exactly which converter they need. To aid in that process, we have put together a short worksheet to help you determine what type of converter is needed: We recommend that you print out thi sheet when taking a number of different devices to a different country.
First, you should determine the electrical requirements (voltage, frequency, and wattage) for the device(s) you will be taking with you. This information is generally on a label or embossed into the back or bottom of the device. Make a note of the voltage(s), frequency or frequencies, and the wattage indicated for each device.
