Question about Rheem 80 GAL ELEC TALL Water Heater 6YR SC 82V802
I chnaged the element on my Rheem hot water cylinder because the element was shot, and the breaker was tripping all the time. The hot water was set to maximum on the thermostat so I turned it down to 65 degrees C, but noticed that every 3-4 days the reset button on the stat has to be pressed, so I guess it must be overheating ? The element was replaced like for like.
Sounds like you have a faulty thermostat. This is the unit that detects the water temperature, and if it is not where it is set, will kick the switch to allow electricity to flow to the elements you replaced. The thermostats are relatively cheap and if you have the knowledge to change the elements, changing these thermostats should not be a problem.
