That error says there is something jammed in either the purge assembly or the sheet feeder on the back not able to turn. The purge assembly is on the right where the printhead parks for cleaning.

Turned it on, off many times as instructions suggest,
etc no dice. Reinstalled software, did everything including giving it a few taps.I was very seriously ready to buy a new one and trash this one, even checking flyers. I read where so my are having this same problem.
In my anger I started pushing all the buttons randomly and suddenly the green light stayed on.
Voila the crazy thing works fine again. Must have reset the glych somehow ?(I have no idea how)
Give it a try before giving up, who knows!!
SOURCE: Could you tell me where the serial number is
the serial number should be printed on a sticker located in the middle of the back of the printer.

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels. some tips on this link :
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken . Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or poor ink cartridge contacts.

Welcome to Fixya
The carriage should be moving freely all the way to the right. Error will show up if the carriage is not moving. Try solutions below:
Switch the printer OFF. Press buttons 1 + 2 + 3 and 4 (simultaneously using four fingers).
Keep pressing this four buttons for 10 seconds. Release the On/Off button (number 4) (Keeping pressing the others). After a few seconds (when the printer go ON), release buttons 1, 2, 3.
IF same thing will happen, inspect closely the carriage using a flashlight for any foreign object stucked underneath it. Check also the path where the carriage travels.
