My camera makes a weird noise when I turn it on and then it immediately shuts off. It doesnt run on battery power and I have tried plugging it in and it still won't work. I don't know how to fix it.

Haha, maybe there's a accident happened at the night ,so the battery for Kodak EasyShare V610 is still charging as begin. You need let it charging until it is full with power then we can confirm what's the problem definitely.
The shutter in the camera is not opening to allow photographs, the motor that controls aperture has malfunctioned or the ccd sensor is not working, sometimes the systems controller board that the ccd is plugged into becomes detached and needs to be reseated back into place to make it operational.
hi. you have problem in lens unit and the weird noise come from to focus gear.maybe you go to the beach or dusty place thats why the said dust or sand goes into lens gear. If you can open and try to clean its better but if not bring to service center and request for cleaning and adjustment.
Make sure that you are installing a fresh/ full charge battery Remove the memory card and the battery Clean the metal contacts on the battery using a clean cloth Use the camera w/o the memory card If problem still persist call the Tech Number
Hi! This is what I need you to try.. If you're using a 5v ac adapter to charge the camera's battery - please hook it to the camera WITHOUT THE BATTERY in it. The 5v ac adapter can be an alternative power supply.
Turn on the camera - check if it would do the same thing - like lighting up, making a noise (attempting to extend the lens) and closes. If it does, the camera needs to be sent in for repair.

If you are using a photoframe dock2 or camera dock series 3 to recharge the camera's batt - use its 5v ac adapter. It will work with the cam. Make sure, the batt is not in it to check the cam's condition, isolating the possible interference of the battery.
If the camera works fine - when the AC adapter is attached, no battery in it - consider buying a new battery.
V610 is a very nice camera, but it was manufactured in 2006. If you have not replaced the battery yet, it might just need to be replaced. Even Li-ion rechargeable batteries wear out eventually - it can only last up to 300 charging cycles.
If you're using a batt that is less than a year old, the cam might just need to be sent in for service.
