Hi. I can use the laptop curser pad to move the curser around on the screen, but when I tap on the pad to try to open a window, it won't do anything. Also, I put my camera card into a card reader and then to the laptop to download some pics (I have done this several times before, no problems) and the computer doesn't even recognize that I have plugged the cardreader in! This notebook is only 1 month old!!! Anyone have similar problem or suggestions? Thanks!
Regarding the touchpad (curser pad), there maybe a problem with your touch pad driver not working or starting up. Check in "msconfig" (you can click on start and run, then type msconfig to bring it up) and click on the startup tab to check which of the startup items are not working.
Also regarding the card reader, i believe the drivers are not installed. Check in Device Manager (click on start /control panel /system icon /device manager) and see what is listed under "other devices"
The reason the cursor pad does not open apps is because of the drivers. Most likely it is called "synaptics" or something.
Can you give me the full model of your laptop? I may be able to guide you to downloading the drivers i am talking about to slve your problem. if not, it may be a hardware problem in whcih case it would be advisable to take the unit back to the reseller.

Thanks! Fixed the cardreader issue, but the touch pad link says it is functioning properly, I clicked "allow all" in the start up program, which had some items stopped. Everything was on run and still no pad response for opening a window. I have contacted the mfg, with the problem. Perhaps some help there. If not, it's only over a month old, I'll just take it back. Maybe I should just do that anyway?
Thanks so much! I actually went into the device manager, as you advised, and I thought it didn't do anything. I shut down and when I restarted everything worked just fine!! I LOVE YOU!!!!
