My cpu usage is more ,transfer rate i.e coppying spee is low

If we are to discern by a few known statements;

1) It is believed in some 'geek communities', that using the same manufacturer of motherboard chipset, and graphics chipset; to be a good thing.

For example an AMD motherboard chipset 'plays well' with an AMD ATI graphics chipset;

Nvidia motherboard chipset 'plays well' with Nvidia graphics chipset.

Intel motherboard chipset with Intel graphics..............no wait,....... there is no Intel graphics chipset, unless it is -> Integrated Graphics.

(Integrated Graphics is also said as OnBoard graphics. ON the motherBOARD)

2) DOES NOT MATTER what graphics memory type is used.

Motherboard can use DDR Sdram ram memory, and graphics card can use GDDR5.

Why?
Because the graphics card has it's own Processor, and Ram Memory.

1) ALWAYS follow Anti-Static Precautions.

2) INSTALL the software for the graphics card F-I-R-S-T,
(Drivers and 'control panel')

THEN unplug the computer from power, follow Anti-Static Precautions, and Physically plug the graphics card into the motherboard, and install.

3) L@@k at the system requirements (Minimum) for the graphics card.
Specifically the Power Supply requirements. You need a Power Supply with enough Wattage, to handle the graphics card.

Thanks for the details. I have used K8V-MX Asus motherboard and found it very reliable with quite reasonable performance. It definately supports 500 GB Sata drive and there must not be any issues after increasing just the storage. However, Operating System upgrade may result in sluggish performance. Drivers dont seem to be an issue to me either.
I suggest to review a few points detailed as under: -
- K8V-MX Asus Supports RAID, so, check for any RAID Drivers/ settings. (You dont have to use RAID for two Hard Drives of different make, capacity and speed). Try using one disk at a time having same Operating System (e.g. Windows XP) and compare the performance.
- Infact SATA Drives have better data transfer rate than IDE, which results in enhanced performance.
- Some Programs (that you may not be using with 80GB drive) Like antivirus may result in decreased performance.
- Please Review you Operating System environment and software installed. Make sure that the new drive & Operating System are free of any virus, which results in CPU Utilization upto 100%.
- Also, motherboard supports Max 2GB RAM, so you may consider adding more RAM.

If you motherboard will accept the P4 speed you want, you will NOT need to change anything. The board will automatically adjust the voltage when it sense the new cpu. I do recommend you upgrade your power supply that will support the voltage requirement. Most time when vendors build a pc with a low voltage cpu they usually use low voltage power supplies.

Check your motherboard specs, inparticular the voltage requirments and processor that are compatiable with your model board.

cpu speed has nothing to do with ram. they are completely independant. ram speed is important to the FSB (front serial bus) this is the speed at which your motherboard communicates with the devives attached to it. cpu speed refers to how fast a cpu can process info. or how fast it "thinks". most motherboards have the capability of upgrading cpu's. your mobo (motherboard will support the following cpu's:
any pentium 4 up to 3.0 ghz
it supports the following ram
ddr (nott ddr 2 or 3) up to 2 gigs (1 gig each slot) of 533mhz speed (or less)
it also supports up to 2 gigs of sdram either pc133 or pc100
you are using 400 speed ram as you stated i would upgrade to a 533 speed ram as it will be faster, but this is not necessary. as for the cpu just get any P4 (pentium 4) that is 3.0 ghz or less and it will work.

I am not able to find a 533 MHz 1GB DDR2 RAM.. Has anyone used a 667MHz 1GB DDR2 on this board D102GGC2 ?

could point to both hardware and software issues..
but first check software issues. can be due to virus/spyware running.. check taskmanger and lists the processes by cpu % ... this will give you the process which is gobbling up the cpu cycles. make note of the file and track it down in hard disk. you will then have to research what it is for.

if you have a antivirus installled it may be possible that it is virus scanning the disc.

in vista you need to change the remote differential compression.  Can be found in control panel?programs?windows settings I believe.  Turn it off.  As far as XP, sounds like a problem with the hard drive or memory.  I know of this issue in vista, but never ran into it with XP.  

Solution:



i)  LOW DENSITY modules have 100% compatiility with ALL systems and ALL chipsets.
    HIGH DENSITY modules only have 10% compatibility

    here compatablity means LOW DENSITY RAM are accepted by all system(100%)  or any make           system.. HIGH DENSITY RAM are accepted by 10% by only some system or computers...


ii) in order to check system performance or amount of Computer RAM usage press the ctrl+alt+del
   simultaneously a new window(window task manager) will appear showing:

    CPU usage: showing the amount of CPU or processor utilized at that particular time.
    PF usage: showing the amount of RAM memory utilized at that particular time.
    Physical Memory: showing Total RAM Memory, Available Ram memory....

iii) baiscally they are two types of RAM they are:

    DDR1:which is older one supported by older system  or older mother boards which is costlier
    DDR2: which is latest one supported by all new system or new mother boards which is less                         costlier

    DDR: double data rated ram......which will send data at a double rate compared to SD RAM

iii) here color doesnt matter, these slots either support DDR1 or DDR2 but not both at a time
    
    DDR1 has 184 pins or gold plated pinssss... on the edge of the RAM
    DDR2 has 240 pins 

    so difference doesnot allow DDR2 to placed in DDR1 motherboards or vice versa...

iv) it does have anything to do with no of chips on the RAM but they only differ whether it is DDR1 OR DDR 2(DDR2 are much faster than DDR1)

NOTE: whatever may the the RAM, each RAM has FSB(called Frequency...) which determines the frequency of rate at which data is tranferred from RAM to processor(CPU)  usually in MHZ such as FSB 300, 400, 200 , 333...................

more the FSB the faster data is transferred to the processor(CPU)

dont worry even RAM with less FSB's work well with the processor....having 1 GB RAM or 2 GB RAM is engouh, it only matters with the speed of CPU ... but not RAM......

Here are the specifications concerning your question about your motherboard's RAM.

The key factors that are the most important when you select your ram is the MEMORY TYPE DDR SDRAM, 184 PIN DIMMs, and the SUPPORTED RAM SPEEDS 400 MHz and 333MHz. Your motherboard will support memory no more than 4 GB of memory, so yes you could use the 128mb modules, but you must make certain that they are DDR SDRAM types and 184 Pin DIMMs as this is what the manufacturer suggests is compatiable with your specific motherboard. The supported speed is also a suggestion, because this is the max speed that will work at it's optimal level. You can buy some ram modules that are higher, but they will clock down to the max speed allowed by your system. In other words, say for example you went to your local best buy or circuit city and bought the suggested memory type with the proper pin count and DIMM modules but they only had 500 MHz bus speed, then your system would clock the speed down to 400 MHz. With 4 128mb modules you are only going to get 512 mb max memory, because 4 x 128 mb = 512 mb so you will not be using all the available memory capacity that your motherboard can handle. If you wanted to maximize your memory usage you could buy 4 of the 1 GB memory modules or buy 2 of the 2 GB modules to obtain your max capacity. In your case buying 4 128 mb memory modules would not be worth it because you could buy 1 of the 2 GB modules and get better memory usage.
Another important thing to remember is that you should always use the same type of memory modules and never mix and match them with different ones as this could cause system crashes and problems with lots of memory errors. When going to a local store and asking a sales rep for compatible ram they will ask you what is the make and model of your computer and what your processor speed is because your processor speed also determines your bus speed because your ram will not operate above that speed it will simply clock down (if it is rated higher than what your processor speed is), with this information they will look up any compatible ram they may have in stock.
