Some 3Com NBX telephone 3102's can access paging but has no audible

Changed the system IP and now some telephones cannot page. We can hear it access the paging system but no audio comes out. Thought it could be a switch issue with multi-cast however some phones work on either switch so that can't be the problem

If the system is in "IP on the Fly" mode you will need to add IP's to the IP pool on the system. If you aren't using any remote phones you can put the system in "Ethernet only" mode and you won't need to worry about the additional IP's. Also, ihave seen problems where you need to make sure that IGMP snooping is enable on the switches for paging to work.

I had a similar problem at a customer and I returned the NBX for a new one. Research had suggested there was a problem with the ethernet controller.

SOURCE: We have a 3Com NBX V3000. The building our office

This was a rather simple fix. When I was speaking about the NBX V3000, I was talking about our 2U NBX Chassis which holds the line card. When our phone system was installed I wasn't shown the 1U NBX V3000 "Brain". I thought everything was contained in the chassis. Long story, short, I restarted the 1U "Brain" and the system came back up with 5 minutes.

Cannot dial out

There are two parts to an extension. The user profile and the physical phone. In order to use the new phone you need to just plug it in and discover it on to the system (like you did). It will create a new extension (user profile and phone) and then go to the users tab and select the user (profile), that you want to move to the new replacement phone, and then scroll down in the "telephone list" and find the new one and highlight it. Click ok and it will move the old profile to the new telephone. it will orphan the old telephone and the new user profile. These can both be deleted.

2102 setup

The phones aren't on the system. You have to make sure to turn on "Auto Discover Telephones" under the system settings, system configuration tab within "tab to it" (on 5.0 and older software) and System wide settings, auto discovery with newer software. If the phones are plugged into the same network as the phone system, the phones will automatically come up with extensions.

I am getting the following message trying to reset button mappings on a 3C1022 phone. The phone is part of a phone group with unlocked buttons. "unable to save changes.Invalid data has been entered...

You need to go to the Telephone group button mappings and click on the lock next to the buttons you want to change. Once you unlock it for the group that the phone is in, you will be able to change it for that phone. Keep in mind that this also allows the other users in that telephone group to change their buttons too.

I have a bad phone on an NBX100. How do I swap out the phone with a new one and keep all of my programming for the existing extension

What software version are you running? Specifically 5.0.x and below or 6.0.x and above? Assuming you have plugged in the new phone and have discovered it on the system... If you know how to get to the users tab for either version, then select the users extn (example ext.100) and click modify(5.0) or on the extn number (6.0). Then scroll down in the section on the right where it says telephone list (5.0) or associated telephone (6.0) and select the newly added phone (example ext. 101). Once you select the new extn (101) and click ok or apply, you will have moved their user profile to the new phone. All of their recordings, passwords and voicemails will move with the profile.

When someone call 3Com NBX 3102 IP Phone we cannot hear them talking, but they can hear us. I tried it on three 3Com systems and same thing happens. We get problems like these often and we are just...

If the phones are only 6-8 months old you should be calling 3Com. those phones have a 1 year warranty and once you register them they will help you troubleshoot and replace them if needed. Can you provide more detail? Do you have any network issues while this is happening? Does speakerphone work but the handset doesn't?

The msg button on 3COM nbx business pnone is not working

There isn't any configuration needed on the Phone system or the phone to make this work. The light must simply have burned out. This would require a new phone to work (unless you know how to solder). f it's under warranty then you can get it replaced for free (1yr). you can also map a button on the right to light up/access the same mail box as a work around.

NBX 3000: Can't access WEB UI or Ping - System still up.

There is most likely another device on the network with the same IP as the phone system. You can check this by un plugging the link to the phone system (after hours of course) and then pinging the IP of the phone system. If you get a reply while the link is disconnected then you know there is a duplicate IP on the network. You can use your server to try to identify the device or use a IP scanner like NetScanTools to ID it. You could also try changing the IP address of the phone system and see if you have the same problem.
