I would check for an electric "flap" that opens & closes when ice lever is depressed. My GE has one and it has been fouled before causing the ice to be stuck inside the door. Hope this helps!

My Whirlpool Gold side-by-side refrigerator GS6NVEXSL00 wont give me the ice out the door. It makes ice, but when I press the button on the door nothing happens. Seems like the button went out. HELP!

Does the water dispenser work? Is there a light at the dispenser panel, does it light? Do you hear any noises or motors running when you actuate ice dispenser? You could have a power issue for the dispenser. Some newer whirlpool models have an issue with the wiring leading into the door at bottom being so securley fastened to frame, the lack of movement forces the wires to bend, and in time break, with door usage. If water dispenser works, and you hear no sounds when the ice lever is actuated, then you have a problem with the dispenser panel circuit board. if water works and you hear some sounds when ice lever is actuated, such as a loud popping noise, then you have a bad ice dispenser auger motor, not churning the ice out of the bucket.

Whirlpool Gold Side By Side Ice Dispenser Problems

Instead of what you think the sound is, try and see what is happening when you actuate the ice lever. open freezer door, depress the door light switch, or tape it closed. now actuate the ice dispenser lever, does the flapping door open, that which opens to allow ice from bucket into your glass? Now look at the bucket itself, do you see the gears rotating? remove the bucket from the door, and repeat, do you see the auger shaft rotating?

Either of these are a complex repair, one I would not recommend DIYers to try on their own, for they require taking the door apart, and if not done right, your door may not close properly. Normally I have no problem advising a repair, but there are some i dont, this icemaker system, and compressors.

Ice maker will not dispense the ice

When you press the lever to dispense the ice, there are multiple switches being activated. Chances are, the one that moves the motor to turn out the ice is bad. Or that motor itself is bad.

sounds like the switch tabs are broken off of the switch bracket behind the dispenser front cover. you should hear a distinct click when you oush in on either lever for ice or water if not then that bracket is broken.  if you'll look on the very bottom of disp cover you will see 2 slots insert a small flat blade screw driver and pry the cover off then you'll see a white bracket with switches and wiring on it look at the black switches and most likely the little plastic posts that hold them on are broken. the bracket is inexpensive and very easy to repalace. if you have any urhter questions just ask thanks peyton...

GS6SHEXMLoo side by side ice dispenser not working

On advice from the tech I removed acess door. It was covered by frozen moisture.
I removed the motor it was full of water. I verified 120 volts at plug to motor from control
by depressing the door switch and ice dispenser lever at same time. The motor ohms out
but because of amount of water removed from it I am going to replace it and see what happens.

Whirlpool Gold Ice dispenser problem

i had same exact problem, i search over and over for solution. I even change the auger moter.

here is the solution for this particular problem.....

with the fridge door closed, remove bottom catch tray under ice dispenser revealing two screws, take off screws and slide front trim up to remove, you will have to unplug switch on trim to fully remove, look in top right corner there is black switch the will most likely be loose, this switch is your problem, mine was basically dislodged and the ice dispenser lever was not making contact, i simply zipped tied and siliconed the switch back to its respective place. if yours is making a good connection then the switch its self must be bad, you can test the switch by using the switch from water dispenser side...

i hope this helps
