How do you rewire vacuum cleaner motor from the outside of the motor to power button and the retractable cord

I'm going to give this a shot hoping that you don't fry something.
Be careful.
It's just basic wiring.
The motor has 2wires coming out ?
If yes, it doesn't matter which of the incoming Black/White, or Euro Brown/Blue connects to which wire on the motor. The Green/Green with Yellow stripe Ground goes to metal aka ground. Hopefully you can find where the original ground connection is located and put ground there.
You will have to cut ONLY the Black (Brown if Euro) wire at/near the switch.
One end of the cut Black/Brown wire goes to one side of the switch, the other cut end goes to the other side of the switch.
Here's what happens -
With the switch off and the vacuum plugged in, nothing runs because the Black/Brown wire is not allowing a path for current because the switch is off.
When you turn the switch on, the circuit completes. Current flows thru the switch to the motor, out the motor on the White/Blue and back into the outlet..
If something shorts to metal the current will flow thru the metal and into the Green/Yellow stripe wire and into the outlet and trip the breaker.
If you ever take anything apart to repair, the first tool you get is your phone and take pictures of everything.

How do you rewire a relay

The relay contacts are wired in series with the motor, circuit breaker and switch. The relay coil is wired in series with the transformer secondary circuit, the control wires to the valves in the wall. Also the on switch is wired in parallel with the control wires.

You did not ask about the transformer but the primary windings are wired to be always on. If you need a picture I can draw you one.

The handle was getting hot and we opened the handle and the wires were melted around the switch. I need a part number for it. All I have seen are 2 wire and this is a 3 wire. Thank you.

Had exactly the same problem with my upright Eureka Model 5893 bagless. Eventually, the handle would get hot, and finally it just quit. When handle was disassembled, the wires were melted and it was toast. Ordered a switch after talking to several repair men. Talked to Eureka, too, and they were absolutely no help. Cheap wiring and switch made in China. Good luck trying to find a switch. has switches, so you might try there, but make sure you get the 3-prong switch (same switch used on Eureka's Genesis). It is Part #27871.

Rewiring a Henry Hoover

Ignoring for the moment the fascinating question of why you would actually want to do this...  I'm sorry to tell you it won't work. Swapping the wires over will make no difference.
