When you shut your top wire shelf you do a few things. First of all you activate your fan. Your fan sits in back of a large evaporator coil which is prone to defrost issues. I would imagine your fan is hitting ice due to a defrost issue. You may want to check your defrost system out. Ie your defrost timer.
or alternatively your fan could be getting old and needs replacing, it could just be making noise.

Hi yadak,
Happy to help.
You may need a new door seal.
But they are not easy to put on properly
and I would not recommend spending a lot of money on a ten year old freezer!
the new ones are much more energy efficient and will save you a lot of money!

Is your circulating fan working?
Sometimes they stick and need a shot of WD 40 and then work
it back and forth a little until it wants to take off again. Keep me informed
and PLEASE give a Thumbs Up for the effort. The Raz Shack
