How do you thread a kenmore sewing machine I can't figure out how to thread the bobbin for kenmore machine 1385.15343600.  I am a beginner, so I will need pretty detailed instructions. Thanks! Jenny

If, I were you, I would take to Sears, to the sewing machine department and have the salesman show me how to thread it and wind the bobbin. You can order a manual from Sears parts direct, if you don't have it.

help , have a beginner kemore model 385-1803800. having a problem with the bibbon thread part isnt moving , needle move fine up n down but i cant get it bac to work.

on my manual 1581 kenmore show figure on how you thread your bobbins and upper thread.
to thread bobbin insert the thread on one hole of winder holding thread and rotate thread on counter clockwise rotation several times, loop the thread on tension thread and insert bobbins winder on winder shaftat top of your sewing machine push the latch to lock bobbin winder
pull the handwheel to disengage the clutch and to move the winder free rotation.
press the foot pedal to run your winder and thread your bobbins be sure on counterclock wise rotation.
if winder is full of thread this will automatically disengage the shafting winder from clutch.
insert winder as in fig. check the thread direction

on figure hold and insert bobbins on shuttle race assymble.

on figure show upper threading.
follow the red thread on figure.
you can also check your manual on internet

I had the same problem and can't find my Owner's Manual. I found the answer on-line. Hopefully, you have the same type of bobbin casing. To get the answer, go to www.startsewing.co.uk and choose "How to thread a Sewing Machine". If you have the same type of bobbin casing, you should be able to figure out the proper placement of the parts by looking at the one in the demonstration. I am thrilled (!) and hope this works for you, too.

threading tension as shown on red threading from spool pull threading and loop to dial tension threading and insert thread to lever needle and to needle hole tip. pull tread under the needle foot and feeder tooth.rotate hand wheel counter clockwise to hook up thread bobbibs and appear at top of needle plate,teo thread shoul appear,set dial tension to # 3 and stich to # 8 range to # 12 depend on fabric and layer of fabrics and set on straight stich sewing,let needle on upper position insert fabric for trial sewiing.put down foot needle lever. manually by hand rotate for assurance needle is free to sew if obtruction on loop bobbins thread occurs adjust all tension gradually then try again until free from sewing w/o problem star sewing.

Have a look at this website on the threading page, if your machine is not listed look at some of the other Kenmore machines and you will get the idea of how to remove the bobbin case. Basically you will find a small latch across the front of the bobbin case, pull the latch away from the case and hey presto.

I have a Kenmore as well ,I hope that this will work for you ,too bad that I don't live close to you otherwise I would give a hand. This is the way I fill the bobbin on mine. Mine is located on the top right ,I put the thread into the bobbin hole leaving a small piece of thread hanging for me to hold when I begin the winding, I pull the wheele out to stop the needle from moving while winding, when I am done just push it back in .I run the thread from the spool into the top left it looks like a U turn with a screw go around that without winding just pull it into the bobbin hole. press the foot control and it will begin winding .
