Hi, ok.....so I'm 5 years too late in this thread, I doubt you're still here?!! I recently picked up a Sony MDS-JE530 from my local freecycle, plugged it in when I got home and shoved in a disc, it showed up TOC ERROR C13, whatever disc I tried. So (after switching unit off and unplugging!), I removed the top cover, pulled the ribbon cable ends, and cleaned them with a cotton bud using Isopropyl Alcohol, this was just hoping as far as I was concerned. Anyway, I reconnected the ribbons, top cover back on, plugged the unit in and switched on, shoved a disc in, and BINGO!!! I have been using it every day, and all function are working flawlessly! So whatever fault code shows up, it could be as simple as a bad connection, as in my case. It's simple enough to do, and only takes a few minutes, it's well worth trying as a first call.

You may well be right. Try a different brand of disc.

SOURCE: i have Sony md player/recorder,model is MDS-E10.

Minidisk systems encode music diffferently than CD's do. The instruction manual for your model can be found at http://www.minidisc.org/sony_mdse10_manual.pdf you will need to reference page 18 for instructions and trouble shooting.

SOURCE: Hi iown a sony- mds je 330, how can i transfer from md to computer?

Sony has a free program called Sonic Solutions. It stinks to high hell. But it is free.

I strongly suggest you either play the MDs into your computer via the LINE IN, or buy a Behringer UCA202 USB Audio Interface from Amazon for $30 and input the audio digitally via the USB.

That's how I do it.

hi there is nothing to do by yourself. you need to take your md player to the next authorized service. seems the optical device that reads the discs has worn out, compareable to turntables you need to change the `needle` ;)

SONY MDS JE 530. (C14) Toc error.

Your owners manual (you DID read your owners manual, right?) says the machine cannot read the TOC on the disc.

It might be a disc problem and it might be a deck problem?

Have you tried a different minidisc?

Have you changed any of the SET-UP settings? Take a look at them, too.

JE530 c13

1) It's more likely your laser died than the the drive failed.

2) Run back to your repair guy, and when they fix it (IF they fix it), ask to see it work before you go home. They damned well better fix it for free!

3) Buy another one on eBay.

C13 means the machine cannot read the TOC on the disc. It is possible you have a disc with a bad TOC. You may have left it near a magnetic field, such as a speaker or a component transformer. Try another disc. Or take a disc and erase it, then record on it. See what happens.

My sony md player wont read HI mini discs

The 480 is not designed to read HI MDs. If I remember right, it can read them as regular discs.

You can always purchase a HI-MD recorder, if that is important to you.

Is there any other remote that will work with Sony Mini Disc Player & recorder model mds je-320

Most Sony MD remotes will operate most functions on this unit, almost all of the Sony MD remotes are available on ebay even the rare ones.

Sony minidisc MDS-JE530 c13 rec error

This could be a solution for your problem, if you get a C13 error it's because of dust on the lens causing TOC read errors. Try blowing out dust using clean compressed air (the kind in the can used for computer maintenance).

Jb 940 md player. Recording a full disc, always results in playback stopping around 38 mins. previously recorded discs will play back ok, so suspect record process not completing. When played in spare...

When you get done recording, do you wait until the "TOC" light stops flashing? If you cut off power before the Table Of Contents is written, then it can't find all your music. Even if you eject, it should still flash a little red TOC or UPDATE before it spits the disc out. Check for that. okay?

Sony MDS JE-320 not recording

This is a common problem with the overwrite head on these units. There is a two wire connection going to it which fails after a couple of years of service. Or for some reason the overwrite head does not make contact to the MD disk surface, it is suppose to when recoding or writing the TOC.
This overwrite head assembly is very very delicate, provided you feel comfortable to work on it you can probably fix it. Or find a local electronics technician to help you with that.

Do some reading on the Minidisc Forum

Hope this helps
