Tape stuck inside Sony VX2000

My husband is an eletronic engineer, he has my Sony VX2000 torn apart to try to get a mini DV tape out of the cassette drive but there literally are no screws or devices to open the cassette up to fix it. It's like a safe! How in the world do we get this tape out of there??

If you are on about the VX2000 which is similar to the professional DSR-PD150 remove battery or supply then simply apply 3volts to the main mech drive motor and unthread the mech from the load position you will notice if it is in the load position because tape will be laced around the drum assembly hence the fact you can not remove the tape

SOURCE: Sony DCR TRV38

Good Day, you need to supply 4.5V DC regulated to the loading motor, however you should disconnect the connector from main board to loading motor, in order not to damage the driver IC. If your technically inclined, and you have the equipment, do it, if your not sure, just refer it to the nearest svc ctr. thanks

Have you cleaned the tape deck at all? That might work.

SOURCE: cassette tape will not load

there is a small motor at the lower right corner ( if you face the tape side of the camcorder). check if the motor reponds to a 5v voltage. if not, that is the problem

DSR-1800A DVcam TAPE EJECT ERROR 21

This error means the reel position motor is not moving the reels either together for mini DV or appart for large tapes. Usually because the sliders or gears have run out of lubrication and have seized due to not being serviced periodically. Otherwise there may be a foreign object stuck in there like a torn label etc.
Try a different size cassette tape, it may be ok on large if you are trying small or vice-versa, because it is already in that position.

I have a vx2000 and it has a flashing yellow box with what looks like a water droplet inside of it. Also where the amount of tape left would be there are numbers flashing. Whats wrong with it?

Sounds like the DEW warning is activated.
This occurs when you take a camera form a heated room to an external cold environment. Condensation forms inside the camera.
The Dew warning serves to protect the tape and camera. Wait until the camera acclimatizes and the condensation disappears.
There is most likely nothing wrong with the camera.

Torn DV mini tape what do I do now?

I would go to a professional camera store like a Ritz and see if you can find splicing tape, yes they sell such a thing but it may be a bit hard to find, if you find it youll have to pick a point on either side of the damaged tape and cut it as cleanly as possible and apply the splicing tape, when played thecut out part will of course be missing and the tape may jump over that point a little but it should work.
