SOURCE: Help!! No cooling, just fan!!!

you probably have a defective contactor or start capacitor on condensing unit. if you pretty handy with wiring go to the condensing section open the panel. you should see a contactor (it's the little black piece with all the wires) check the condition of it. next to it is a capacitor and by the problem that you describe it could be that. check it if it looks bloated there's your problem just go an get an combination capacitor and wire up. (make sure the power to unit is off first. any other questions email me @ [email protected]

SOURCE: panasonic air con unit is not blowing cold air out.

This unit is use in motels etc. Check the ouside coil ( conderser) from the inside (discharge fan ) for dirt. Most of these units are floor level . This can cause a unit to short cycle ( cold air is at the floor) .

SOURCE: schematic diagram of central air conditioning

Several types out there. 99% of them use the same basic wiring.
Red is power from transformer to t'stat. Sometime there is a wire for common from transformer to t'stat too, but not always.
While is for heat. Green is for fan. Yellow is for cooling.
These 4 to 5 wires go on the terminals that are maked with letters: C=common, RH/RC is for power, W=heat, Y=cooling, G=fan.

In most cases, 2 wires from the indoor unit will go to the outdoor unit to power it for cooling. Usually connected to the yellow wired, Y terminal and common or grounded to the unit if the transformer is done in the same fashion.

If you have a heat pump, totally different animal and different wiring too.

Hope this helps you. Good Luck.

Where do I get a replacement condenser fan motor

You need the RPM, VOLTAGE, HORSE POWER(HP) info. Any HVAC or refrigeration supply house may sell you one. Most are wholesale only but 1 should sell it but won't offer a warranty, just in case you don't know what you are doing and miswire it. Air conditioning parts and supply.

What are the probable causes of DTC P2444?

Hello Please read this carefully. This info directly relates to the code you are having. I will include a troubleshooting tree at the bottom. If there are any other codes or if you need further info please let me know:

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION The secondary air injection (AIR) system aids in the reduction of hydrocarbon emissions during a cold start. The system forces fresh filtered air into the exhaust stream in order to accelerate the catalyst operation. An electric air pump, the AIR pump, provides filtered air on demand to the AIR control solenoid valve/pressure sensor assembly. The AIR control solenoid valve/pressure sensor assembly controls the flow of air from the AIR pump to the exhaust manifold. The AIR valve relay supplies the current needed to operate the AIR control solenoid valve/pressure sensor assembly. A pressure sensor is used to monitor the air flow from the AIR pump. The powertrain control module (PCM) supplies the internal pressure sensor with a 5-volt reference, an electrical ground, and a signal circuit.

The AIR diagnostic uses 3 phases to test the AIR system:
  • DTCs P0411 and P2430 run during Phase 1
  • DTCs P2430 and P2440 run during Phase 2
  • DTC P2444 runs during Phase 3
In all 3 phases, testing is accomplished by comparing the measured pressure against the expected pressure. The PCM can detect faults in the AIR pump, AIR control solenoid valve/pressure sensor assembly, and the exhaust check valve. The pressure sensor can also detect leaks and restrictions in the secondary AIR system plumbing.

The DTC P2444 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump is Stuck ON diagnostic monitors the system pressure signal during test phase 3. When the PCM determines the AIR pressure sensor signal is higher than expected, DTC P2444 sets.

DTC DESCRIPTOR
This diagnostic supports the following DTC:
  • DTC P2444 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System Pump Stuck On
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
  • DTCs P0101, P0102, P0103, P0107, P0108, P0112, P0113, P0116, P0117, P0118, P0201, P0202, P0203, P0204, P0205, P0206, P0300, P0350, P0411, P0412, P0418, P0420, P0606, P0641, P0651, P1350, P2430, P2431, P2432, P2433, P2440 are not set.
  • The system voltage is between 10-18 volts .
  • The engine is running.
  • The start-up engine coolant temperature (ECT) parameter is between 5-50°C (41-122°F) .
  • The start-up intake air temperature (IAT) parameter is between 5-60°C (41-140°F) .
  • The BARO parameter is more than 60 kPa .
  • The MAF sensor parameter is between 3-24 g/s .
  • DTC P2444 runs once per trip start-up when the above conditions are met and the AIR pump operation is requested.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The measured AIR pressure is more than expected during AIR pump Phase 3 operation. DTC P2444 sets within 5 seconds when the above conditions are met.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
  • The PCM illuminates the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) during the first key cycle in which the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) sets.
  • The PCM records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic fails. This information is stored in the Freeze Frame buffer.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
  • The PCM turns OFF the MIL on the third consecutive trip cycle during which the diagnostic has been run and the fault condition is no longer present.
  • A DTC will clear after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles have occurred without a fault.
  • A DTC can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear Information function.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS

Inspect for any of the following conditions:
  • The resistance of the AIR pump relay coil (across terminal 85 and terminal 86) is 50-70 ohms at 20°C (68°F) . In the normal unenergized state, the resistance of the open relay contacts (across terminal 30 and terminal 87) is infinite.
  • The AIR pump relays electrical contacts may be pitted and sticking. Replace the relay if tapping gently on the relay or wiggling the relay causes a change in the relays operation.
  • The performance of the AIR pump relay may be affected by temperature. Check the relay after sitting outside overnight and after running the engine 30 minutes .
  • An intermittent malfunction may be caused by a fault in an AIR system electrical circuit. Inspect the wiring harness and components for an intermittent condition.

21812371-jq13pypi3egybe0aho3o0ljx-4-0.gif

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
  1. This step tests for the correct operation of the AIR pump. When the AIR pump relay is commanded ON with the scan tool, only the AIR pump relay is energized. When the AIR valve relay is commanded ON with the scan tool, both the AIR pump and the AIR valve relays are energized.
  2. This step tests for the correct operation of the AIR pump relay.

My A/C blowing air, but it is not cool. It has started freezing up. We just replaced the air filters and since then it is freezing up. We even gently cleaned the a/c coils before replacing the filters. ...

Hello, sounds like it is either a low charge or lack of airflow, what type of filter are you using? sometimes those filters that claim to be super effecient will actually cut down on your airflow and cause the ac to freeze up.

I have a LG LWHD1500ER window air cond. and am wondering if I can plug it into a plug in my bedroom that has nothing else plugged into it? I don't know what a dedicated circuit means?

When you say dedicated circuit, you should have an electrical outlet that was installed just for your air conditioner. This outlet must have it's own circuit breaker that has higher ampere ratings. This ampere rating must correspond to your air condition horse power (HP) e.g. .75 hp, 1 hp, 1.5 hp, 2 hp. You should consult a qualified electrician for your safety.

I have a Hyundai Accent 2002, when check engine ligth, i go tu service center. The code returned for scan is P1401. please, how fix this code ?

P1401 - DMTL Malfunction
The diagnosis module comprises an electromechanically driven pump together with a change-over valve and heater. The engine management system measures the pump's electrical current consumption while pumping air into the canister and fuel tank to check the system's leakage.
If the electrical current consumption is over the threshold value specified before in the memory, this means that there is a tank-system leak.

ghost45_9.jpg 2. DM-TL operating conditions.
(1) DM-TL monitoring operation starts only after all the conditions below are met.
A. Vehicle soaking over 4 hours and 30 minutes.
B. Engine coolant temperature over 2.3°C (36.14°F) when starting.
C. Ambient temperature between 1.5°C (34.7°F) and 40.5°C (104.9°F).
D. 6.4l or more gasoline in the fuel tank.
E. Over 20 minutes driving after starting.
F. During Air Bag is not working.

(2) And also you can check the DM-TL operation with simulation mode of HI-SCAN.

Air conditioning

Hi,

Fan problem could either be the starting capacitor or the motor itself. Often it would just be the capacitor and you could verify this by a humming/vibrating sound coming from the motor as if trying to turn but is not capable of. If it were the motor burned, the unit would have excessive current tripping the breaker or a fuse blowing.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
