Everything is fixable, but it is a 17 year old set, with old technology. In these days of Internet connectible, Smart televisions with 4K picture quality, you would notice a big difference. I would say you have had your moneys worth out of it. Its up to you, service centre, or a new one.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time.

The code you need is for the remote, not the set; there is no 'standard' number for any set, each code for your set will be different from one remote brand to another.
You need to go to the website of the mfr. and download their code list. If there isn't one, you will have to try the rest of the Panasonic codes to see if any of them will give you some control of your set.
Many remotes do have a code 'search' mode so that you can step through every code combination stored in the remote's table. If none of them work, that remote will never control your set.
