Are you trying to print
1). photgraphs in colour
2). Photographs in B&W
or
2). plain text
In canon iP4000, you can do a Nozzle check by going to the maintenance.
Go to print anything from a word file or an excel file > in the print box > go to Properties> go to Maintenance.
Here you can do Cleaning, Deep Cleaning, Print head Alignment and Nozzle check.
If your Nozzle check matches the check pattern(this you will find once the Nozzle Check gives a print), then it possible that either the right paper is not put in or your master could be very dark. Alternatively you could reduce the print setting to Standard...

The problem is with a i560 printer and I don't think your info can be translated into the kind of results I'm getting from a nozzle check.
