Bulb does not light on refrig side. When it happened it popped out the two control knobs. Reset control knobs and replaced bulb but the bulb will not light. After resetting the knobs the refrigerator started cooling again. Manual does not show any fuses, so I'm not sure what to try next. Whirlpool GD5SHAXNS00 side by side.

General advise:Before removing anything check the fuses.For reacing the bulb:Must pull off the panel,remove the knobs by gently force them out,under must have some screw/clips to allow remove the panel.The panel may need help to pop from sides,don't force it,use plastic card/tool.Exersize on a old radio removing the control knobs.Some cars u have to unscrew the down side usually the ashtray.The bulb may be hard to identify,exersize removing bulbs on a wasted dashboard from a car/scooter...

You have a bad electronic control board . This part is mounted on the back of the refrig , at the lower left corner , inside a plastic holder . The part number is W10135090 . It costs about $ 100.00 . This board , also controls the 2 control knob lighting .

On the 2004 Pontiac Vibe that I owned, I ended up taking it to the dealer. Perhaps this advice can avoid having you end up at the same place!

Remove the middle environmental control knob (fan blower speed, I think) by tugging on it until it comes off. Underneath you will find a single Phillips screw. Remove the screw and gently (so you don't mar it), pull at the plastic trim surrounding the environmental control area. It should pop out. You may also want to remove the two-prong AC outlet by prying it gently out with a small slotted screwdriver before attempting to pry out the trim panel.

After that panel is out of the way, you are ready to tackle the plastic trim surrounding the shift knob. Begin by removing the small holding compartment at the base of the shift knob. There is a single Philips screw holding the plastic piece to a supporting brace on the lower end. Four additional screws on the upper end are revealed by the removal of the environmental control trim piece as previously described.

Okay, from there, you're ready to gently pry loose the trim panel surrounding the shift knob.

The bulb can be located on the driver's side. It's a 'funny' looking bulb that is integrated into a two wire bundle. You may end up having to replace the bulb+wire bundle as a unit. The electrical connector is on the opposite side of the shift knob.

If the refrig light AND the temp adjustment knob lights , went out , you need to replace the electronic board . Pt # W10135090 . This part is located behind the refrig , at the bottom left , with 2 screws , inside a white box . The board runs about $ 80.00 , and is easily replaceable .

Your refrig light switch does control the freezer fan and the refrig light bulb . Replace the refrig light switch .
Open the refrig door , freezer fan goes off and the refrig light comes on .

Try unplugging refrig for a few min , then plugging back in . This will reset the adaptive timer and at least get the refrig working . The adaptive timer , is located in the control panel . Pt # 4388932 . To replace this board , remove the knobs and pro the top of the panel outwards . Remove the 4 screws holding the panel ( 2 are on the inside by the light bulb ) . You should now have access to the board .

Look inside the trunk for the back side of the light module housing. Unscrew the large black knob. Before unscrewing it all the way push on the knob to pop out the light module housing from the outside fender, or place your fingers under the lip and gently pull on the housing once the knob is removed. Once pulled out of the housing the bulb sockets will be visible outside of the trunk. replace the l;amps and reverse the procedure to put the light module back into the socket. Screw back on the black knob.

The front lights are similar but have tension springs instead of knobs.

are you talikn about just the bulb? or the whole light?
For the bulb just unplug wiring from the back of the bulb and twist bulb and pull, do not touch the bulb of the new light the oils from your fingure will and can cause the bulb to burn out premature

the entire ligh has two pop rivets one on each side remove those. there is also an adjuster knob remove the knob and the spring pull the light off and replace with new.. you may want to mark the location of the adjuster knob so that on reassembly you know where the adjustment was for proper light position
