My PS3 started freezing after buying my MLB 09 The Show. Now it won't play any Blu-ray movies or PS3 games. It will, however, play DVD's and PS2 games without a problem. What can I do to fix this?

the saved data for my ps3 "call of duty world at war" is corrupted...when I try copy the saved data, I get the "the data is corrupted" message...when I try start the game, it does the "loading call of duty", then does the ps3 beep, and just hangs with a black screen...other users can still play the game fine...have tried deleting the game data and re-installing with the same result...seems it's just the saved data for this one user...anyone have a way to fix it?

Kakashi is exactly right...I finally got that solution from Activision customer support (although it did take several go arounds to finally get it)...btw we had also ordered an updated map pack that got deleted when we deleted the saved data, but the ps3 store has an option where you can re-load things you have recently purchased, so we did that and it worked fine...thanx, kakashi

My Ps3 keeps freezing up but only on 1 game. I've already tried switching disc with the same game. Can you help?

If it's freezing with the same game it means either one or two things.

Your game data is corrupt, fix them by deleting all instances of the game under Game Data. Make sure you backup your game saves to an external usb drive just in case.

2nd possible reason is you've got a bad sector on your hard drive, if the above doesn't work then I would suggest you swap out your hard drive with a new one. 320gb drives from Best Buy for for $50 so it's a pretty cheap fix ;)

When I turn my PS3 on the startup screen comes up but the user names do not which means I can't play any of my games what should I do?

Hello,

You can also try the steps below. Its from PlayStation Forum:

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System

If the above steps still does not solve the problem, then I think will have to update your Ps3.

Update your PS3 (in the settings menu the 1st option).

Go on the internet browser on the PS3 then go on the menu press triangle then on one of them there are delete cookies and the delete the others as
well as cookies.

You could also try this as well: put the PS3 on then press the eject button (with no disc in) then hold it and switch the PS3 off at the back with
your finger on the eject button still holding it, then put it back on and the fan test should be working this may cool it down. It might be over heating.

But if your problem is not still solved, then maybe you should call sony for further assistance.

If you are having trouble with your games freezing it is possible that you have corrupted data on the PS3 hard drive. The link below will take you through resetting the drive.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r4853494-fix_playstation_3_corrupted_hard_drive

If you still have trouble it is possible that you are having trouble with the PS3 system its self.

Take care.

The game keeps freezing.

Assuming you've already cleaned the disc, all you can do is delete the game data. In the crossbar (XMB), go to Game->Game Data Utility. This will delete any patches or game data that have been installed since you first put the disc in. Then PS3 will re-install/re-download the game data. This will not affect Save Games, as those are stored in the Save Data Utility.

Corrupted data

It's possible that you're turning off the ps3 while it's saving, corrupting the save data.
Make sure when you turn off the ps3 it's not in the process of saving.
Try the above and if you still have no luck it's possible there's an issue with your ps3's hard drive, have you had any problems with any other games?

Also, if the problem persists, try deleting the MW2 gamedata, located under gamedata on the ps3's menu.
Best of luck to you.

My games keep coming up as corrupted data on my psp and i try to delete it and put it back on but it keeps coming up as corrupted data. Is there a special software for this if there is a special software...

Hard Reset procedure for the PS3 (as instructed by Sony CS). Be sure to backup your settings/games saves by doing a System > Backup on your PS3 or you may lose your game saves! Also, this is a last resort procedure prior to exchanging/returning to sony.
1. Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on w/switch.
2. Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps.
3. Then go through the initial setup and then run a full Format via System > Format. (will take approx 3 1/1 hours). You may need to have our AV cables ready if your using HDMI (in case HDMI isn’t detected after initial reset).
4. Restore your backup you made prior to doing factory/hard reset (optional, if you created a backup).

**USE A FLASHDRIVE FIRST TO BACK UP YOUR SAVED GAMES**

Settings > System Settings > Restore PS3™ System

Delete all hard disk content and restore the system software to its default settings. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform this operation.

After the operation has been completed, the initial setup screen will be displayed. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the operation.

Notices
  • When you perform this operation, all data on the hard disk will be deleted. Also, the system software will be restored to its default settings. Be careful not to accidentally delete important data as the changes cannot be undone. Data loss or corruption is the responsibility of the user.
  • Do not turn off the PS3™ system during this operation. If the operation is cancelled before completion, the system software may become damaged, and the system may require servicing or exchange.
  • During this operation, the power button on the system front and the PS button on the wireless controller are not active.
  • You cannot use this feature to go back to an earlier version of the system software.
  • You can shorten the formatting time by selecting [Quick Format] from the hard disk format methods. However, in this case it may be possible for some deleted data to be restored if a specialized tool is used. Select [Full Format] when formatting a hard disk that contains important or sensitive data.

Madden 09 ps3 game keeps freezing up

If you bought another copy of the game and it happens at the same exact place it's probably because your game data has become corrupted. Go to GAME, then Game Data Utility folder, delete the Madden 09 info and see what happens. It's probably a good idea to do a backup first just in case this doesn't fix the problem.
