I have had my Kodak Easyshare C330 since December 2005. When the camera tries to extend the lens, it does it very slightly. This is then followed by "lens error: 14" and the camera then shuts off. I have had the problem before this summer, more often when I'm at the beach and it seemed to fix its self. Last night my camera worked, but it wouldn't zoom in or out. Well, earlier today I was at beach and I tried to zoom in and out and my camera wouldn't allow me to once again. It was then followed by shutting its self off. When I tried to turn it back on, I got that wonderful error once again. I'm hoping it will fix its self again, but I want it working now. I purchased my camera from Best Buy with a warranty, but I'm not sure where my paperwork is at or how long my warranty was for. I've been researching on this forum and other sites, but I haven't come across anything more helpful than getting it fixed by someone or buying a new camera. Sooo... Any suggestions? camera lens wont work it sayed it has a lens error 14
Hi Jesse, thanks for coming to FixYa.
The problem your having is that sand and/or dirt gets in the lens mechanism of the camera. When the little cog inside gets sand in it, it prevents it from moving. It is what causes 95 percent of all lens errors. The other 5 are when the retaining pins get misaligned and don't go back in the holes. Mis aligned pins happen alot of times when you drop it with the lens extended, so let's go with the easy one first.
Take an air compressor (or borrow a friends) and put the nozzle up to the space in between the lens and and the camera. Blow it out real good. It may take a couple of tries, but it should free it up.
Let me know if that helped, and feel free to rate my answer.
