Kodak C330 [lens error 14]

I have had my Kodak Easyshare C330 since December 2005. When the camera tries to extend the lens, it does it very slightly. This is then followed by "lens error: 14" and the camera then shuts off. I have had the problem before this summer, more often when I'm at the beach and it seemed to fix its self. Last night my camera worked, but it wouldn't zoom in or out. Well, earlier today I was at beach and I tried to zoom in and out and my camera wouldn't allow me to once again. It was then followed by shutting its self off. When I tried to turn it back on, I got that wonderful error once again. I'm hoping it will fix its self again, but I want it working now. I purchased my camera from Best Buy with a warranty, but I'm not sure where my paperwork is at or how long my warranty was for. I've been researching on this forum and other sites, but I haven't come across anything more helpful than getting it fixed by someone or buying a new camera. Sooo... Any suggestions? camera lens wont work it sayed it has a lens error 14

Hi Jesse, thanks for coming to FixYa.

The problem your having is that sand and/or dirt gets in the lens mechanism of the camera. When the little cog inside gets sand in it, it prevents it from moving. It is what causes 95 percent of all lens errors. The other 5 are when the retaining pins get misaligned and don't go back in the holes. Mis aligned pins happen alot of times when you drop it with the lens extended, so let's go with the easy one first.

Take an air compressor (or borrow a friends) and put the nozzle up to the space in between the lens and and the camera. Blow it out real good. It may take a couple of tries, but it should free it up.

Let me know if that helped, and feel free to rate my answer.

My kodak c330 turns on thens says lens error 12, and the lens door will not open. what does this mean and how do i fix it?

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

You have 1-2 years warranty on your camera (depending on which country you bought the camera in).

KODAK recommends a repair for this error code.

An Out of Warranty repair for this model for this fault is about 48 pounds + shipping. KODAK also offers a Trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.

In order to arrange your repair/Trade up: Contact KODAK:

Lens extends part way then jams. New battery does not help.

Have it repaired. There are authorized service centers throughout the county. I know of one in North Miami and Delray Beach, FLorida. You can contact Kodak on line as well

Kodak Easy Share C330 lens error 14 and lens error 22

This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Kodak C330 [lens error 14]

I have this camera and I have had this exact error...and I'm sure it was caused from being in my purse and turning on and off all the time. All I did to fix it was push the lens a little bit while it was already retracted and it made a slight popping noise like it was going back onto a track and then it worked perfectly ever since then.

Kodak C330 [lens error 14]

Hey Sarah, I'd say that up to 5 min ago, I was having the same problem. My camera (Kodak C330) had been giving me this Lens Error 14 for about a month and I hadn't been able to make it work. The first 2 times it did that, I turned it off and on again, but then it just would work anymore. I tried opening it but it wouldn't let me so I thought I was screwed.. until I found this forum where people seemed to think that banging on the bottom and pressing hard on the lens would fix the problem. I had nothing to lose so I tried and guess what: Now it's working fine again! I had taken it to the beach and I'm not sure if it's because I had gotten sand in it or water perhaps but in the user manual, it said that getting that error message after dropping it or getting it wet was voiding the warranty. So there. Hope that helps! ~Vero
