I have a Sony Bravia KDF-50E2010 rear projection TV. There is a 1 inch deep pinkish coloured shadow across the top of the screen. Can anyone advise if this can be fixed by adjusting any of the menu settings.
Please call sony Optical Block warranty extended to June 30, 2010
Well this is the fix for the usual Ghosting problem....
To bring up the "service" menu, put the TV in standby mode, then press in sequence :
Onscreen Display ( the little screen with the i+ in it )
5 ( channel number 5 )
Volume Up ( upper end of volume button )
Analogue ( middle top button )
The TV should switch on and when it's warmed up, you should see a screen with lots of big green lettering on it.
Press the "menu" button ( middle bottom )
Use the direction dial to move down to "LCD Drivers" and press right on the dial to enter this menu.
Move down to "S H Pos Reg R". It should be "10", change it to "11". ( Left/Right to adjust )
Move down to "S H Pos Reg G". It should be "10", change it to "11".
Move down to "SHPos Reg B". It should be "10", change it to "11".
Press the menu bottom to drop out of the menus, and the standy button to drop to standby. Switch back on, and hopefully your ghosting will be gone
You have a bad polarizer. LCD TVs have no convergence ICs. stop giving bad advice.
The Fix for this TV lies inside, very much inside. when you fully take it apart, there is an aluminum bezel around the screen you have to take that off, and then you will see these goldish tape strips, they are very crapply attached, its hard to solder plastic tape so the connections crack from streches, and some tvs once the tv has warmed up after 10 mins, you can shut it off and turn it on and will be fe fine. You really have to tape them down or insert some rubber tube in between the bezel. Its a delicate operation because it is very very easy to break the lcd. BUT dont forget, there is connection on the bottom as well. make sure bottom right is pressed down, the connection tape that is.
PS, its Vol UP on this for the service menu, and if your having this common problem, that i wrote about, you will see NO CODES in the service screen. BUT it is a pain to get to the tapes, you better get
a couple cups for screws, and 2 markers mark where the screws go once inside, because you will foget.
Note a guy on the top talking about the menu, that probably will work, because i imagine if u tell the tv to shift which pins it uses, the problem will go away.

I have a Sony KDF 50 e t.v and I have faint two green lines going across the screen. Any one know how to get rid?? Its very annoying. The lines are at the top about 2 inches down.
I have a 2000 model and it only started showing up after I replaced the lamp/bulb. It is called an Optical Block.. something or other. I called Sony 2 days ago and they are running a special program for the E2000 series. IF you qualify you can upgrade to a new tv for a hugely discounted price, or they can replace your tv for a slightly smaller one free of charge or try to repair the one you have free of charge. It is worth it to call Sony and find out if you might be able to get into the program. It is called the E2000 Special Program. Our TV is a little over 2 yrs old and we qualified. Good luck
