It seems you computer is not recognising the hard-drive, on boot up, because it doesn't know where to look, i.e. it is booting up to a different drive letter. Have you got more than one drive on the system? If you have you will need to reconfigure the bootup list. Good Luck. George

SOURCE: Fujitsu Hard drive MHK2060AT not being read. =/

In a simple way the hard drive doesn't need a driver. Maybe the hard drive cable are not connected properly. You need to check the hard drive if is it connected correctly. Try to make also the BIOS and make your hard drive in to first boot.

SOURCE: working on a friends laptop,

Are you using the Fujitsu-supplied Windows XP Installation Media, or a "generic" Windows XP CD-ROM?

The "generic" version may be lacking the device-drivers for the SATA disk-drive,
and therefore cannot "find" the disk-drive.

SOURCE: my laptop is not working

if your computers motherboard is older than 5yrs and does not have 2 gb of ram it will not support windows 7 also since you have removed your hard drive you must have moved the leads attached

one bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

Open your laptop and and fix the hard disk cable. After this start laptop and check the bios if HDD detected then select boot device and select first boot device is Hard disk.Save the setting and restart the window. You are able to open your window. But If Hard disk drive is not detected change data cable, power cable of Hard disk.If hard disk is detected in bios follow upper rules. And if it is not detected again you should walk into Hard disk repairing center and check hard disk there.

I got this computer off side of road and can't get windows to load it's try's then the screen goes black . here is what happens . I turn it on the screen comes up black it asks what I would like to do ?...

The first screen (start windows normally etc) appears because the computer ahs not shut down normally before. Since you choose to start windows (normally or last known...) and the Windows logo comes up with the loading bar, this means that the computer is starting to boot. Some hardware or software (windows) problem appears and the boot never ends. Possible reasons: motherboard failure or hard disk failure. A good idea is to re-install windows to check the results. Mention that in case of reinstalling the windows, during the procedure choose to reformat the hard disk so it will be checked for errors and reported.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

Sounds like you need to run the recovery disk

If your have the Recovery Disk put it in and boot from cd/dvd,
[Push "F12" at the Toshiba boot screen to access the Boot Menu]

you will loss all your info,,

to save your info [pic's] you will need to plug your hard drive into a desktop with sata.. and back up you info that way then run the disk

if you dont have the disk you will need to get a new windows 7 dvd or contact toshiba for a new Recovery Disk set,

Some times they put the Recovery on the hard drive but i think you need the disk with this one.

You are seeing a failure to read your hard drive.
Now you need to troubleshoot that. Your hard drive could have gone bad or you can boot from a system disk (that would be a Windows system disk) and run chkdsk.

If you need help doing that, just ask. I'd be glad to help you further.

Cant boot

In your bios you should be able to change your settings for the hdd. Make sure everything in bios matches your hdd & then save changes & reboot. Hopefully that will allow you to enter windows.

Black screen with mouse only

there are several things which might resolve your problem.

attempt to get into safe mode (with f 8 at boot), and check device manager for problem devices.

insert the vista disk and boot, and attempt to "repair" windows, the boot sector particularly. there is usually a "repair" utility on windows disks which allows you to fix problems without completely reinstalling windows.

your computer may be infected by a virus. if you can get into safe mode, try a virus scanner called "avast" if that doesnt work, try "malwarebytes" or "combofix". these can be found by doing a quick google searc, just make sure you download them from reputable sites. you may have to use a seperate comoputer to download the programs.

if you cannot get into safemode, try the same anti-virus software suites, from a different computer, with your hard drive installed in that system as a "secondary" drive. if this is a laptop hard drive, laptop to desktop hard drive adapters can be purchased for around $20.
