Galaxy DX 959 CB radio no transmit or talkback

Hi, I have a problem with this CB radio. The PA works good but after installing the MOSFET kit as mentioned here http://cgi.ebay.com/DUAL-POWER-TRANSISTOR-MOD-KIT-GALAXY-949-959_W0QQitemZ190256621565QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item190256621565&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 it wont transmit and I cant hear myself on talkback nor do I hear the roger beep. The PA amp works though.

My galaxy 949 will not transmit on sidebandwhy is that

There are too many possibilities as to what the fix is for your radio. You need to take your radio into a radio shop that services CB radios.

Got a galaxy dx 949 mobile trying to wire a older d-104 to it and it dosent sound right its not got the mod it needs. thanks

Hello twelch,
Welcome to FixYa.
My name is John, and I will be assisting you with your issue today.
If it is the old four(4) wire mic, the wiring will be as follows:
Pin #1. Shield (Ground)
Pin #2. White (Audio)
Pin #3. Red (Transmit)
Pin #4. Black (Recieve)
If it is a SIX (6) wire! The Blue would go to Pin #1. with the Shield, and the Yellow
has no connection. I hope this was helpful to you. Your Comments and Testimony's are
always welcome here at FixYa. Thanks for choosing FixYa today and in the future.

29 LTD classic recieve is way off frequency. recieve sounds like bleed over from another channel. how do i adjust the receive frquency for a cobra 29 ltd classic?

un fortunatly to properly align this radio you need an audio VTVM, occiliscope and a dummy load.

but before you get crazy with trying to align your radio, is the delta tune right in the middle? if not thats why recieve is off.... as well you can adjust delta tune to compensate for off frequency.

It transmits off frequency is there a adjustment and also the frequency counter goes crazy at times

To add 10Khz to your transmit frequency:

FIXED/OFF/+10KHz SWITCH:
The left position puts the radio on
one of the three fixed channels that is selected by the channel switch
(6,19, or 21). This over-rides the channel selected by the 40 channel
knob. The right position adds 10KHz to whatever frequency you are ON.
In the middle, both features are OFF.

Otherwise, a radio tech would be able to retune the frequency inside the radio.

After adding 10KHz to your frequency, use the SWR control to check the SWR of your antenna.
Here's how:
SWR CAL CONTROL: Normally this switch is set to “PO”. Then,
during transmission, the meter indicates output power. To read SWR,
rotate this knob during transmission until the needle moves to the “SET”
point on the SWR scale. Then, while still transmitting, set the R.B./SWR
switch to SWR.

Ideal SWR is 1 but you'll want to be as near one as possible. An SWR of 1.6 or greater will make ineffective use of your antenna.
If in doubt, a radio tech has the required meters and tools to adjust the SWR/Tuning of your antenna.
