If you mean that the power drops from ssb to am then when you change it back what you should do is check to see what power you have to begin with.you may have to go inside the radio to adjust the power. there is hi power and Low power so watch yourself.

SOURCE: how can i boost my galaxy dx 959

You will have to take this radio to a tune and peak shop for this upgrade. most audio store tech can do this upgrade or, just locate a truck stop near your location and im sure there is a radio guy on the premises that will assist in this upgrade as well. great radio by the way:)

SOURCE: Galaxy DX 959

1. Remove bottom cover from radio. 2. On the main PCB, locate J33. (See diagram above) 3. Locate wires on pins marked "P5" (yellow) & "P6" (grey). 4. Cut wire on "P5" (yellow) and install a SPST switch in line. 5. Cut wire on "P6" (grey) and install a SPST switch in line. NOTE: By using two of the function switches available on the radio will eliminate the need for two new switches to be installed and mounted.

SOURCE: refurbished dx 959 from galaxy no modulation? no transmitt?

If there is no transmit at all, it sounds like it wasn't fully refurbished. If it is just low modulation then just turn VR16 and VR14 all the way to the left.

If its not working at all, send it back. It hasn't been refurbished.

SOURCE: i have a galaxy dx 959 it keys up has no soundor receive

Try a different mic, they CAN cause no sound (receive), and no talking. If that isn't the issue, I'd go to my coax cable, even though they don't look broken doesn't mean that they aren't. I've seen quite a few brand new ones that are bad right out of the box. If all of that checks out I'd grab an SWR/power meter and do a check to see if the radio was registering on the inline meter. I'd say use the one on the radio, but I'd like to see it on the inline so you can really tell whats going on with the radio. I think I'd also get a spare radio, or a friends, and put it in my vehicle and see if it gets out. That would be the best way to check your coax and antenna setup. Aside from that, which is just simple cb logic, I'd say you may possibly have to bring the radio to a tech and have them check it out. I have a DX-959 and a DX-99V and I gotta say, knock on wood, no issues with either one. I really hoped that helped and let me know how things turn out. Its always good to hear from people after they figure out what was wrong, that way we all learn...

Galaxy DX 959. SSB doesn't seem to work. The power meter needle moves in AM but not in SSB. I tried adjusting the bias between test points 7 & 9 to 50 mA via VR12, but can only get it down to 90...

on ssyou are some what familiar with working on radio's. just make sure before you pull your hair out aligning the radio that you made sure it definitely is not tx on ssb. b the.Mic gain will increase the modulation. it could just be a meter issue. confirm this by having some one on another radio on ssb the same channel listen for you. if he cannot hear you then the ssb is blown out.sounds likelike

Receive is ok, but when I transmit on SSB the Freq. jumps 10KC. What adjustments can I do to get the transmit back on Freq. without effecting the Receive?

go to you tube and type in your radio make and model and watch the review on that radio there is a freq adjustment pod for ssb adjustment. they might tell you if not take it to a radio tech and he should be able to alighn it. there is more than one pod for ssb transmitt and receive.

Symptom:Buzzing or motorboating sound in either the transmit or receive.
Problem: TR602 is oscillating
Cure: Replace C602 with a .01uF cap {Cap is located in the power supply board}.
RG 66,99,DX2517 Replace Q54 2SB754 60watt 7A with a higher power 2SB817 100 Watt 12A. Derating of this component will cool operation, provide better voltage stability, decrease wobble, allow voltage increase to 14.5 volts comfortably. (replace 10 volt caps in this section of the radio to a minimum of 16 volts before increasing supply voltage to this level)and provide faster swing rise time, Replace Q37 2SA473 to a 2SA1012-0 or ECG153 this will improve the clarity and volume of the modulation and it will also run a lot cooler.
