Hi Dave
No ....go to a hardware store buy a toggle switch than get a single speaker wire (small wire) attach it to the red wire on the back of your pioneer deck (make sure to leave the red wire in back of deck as well) and attach it to the power on the toggle switch do the same with the black wire (ground wire) the black wire will go into the toggle switch under the power wire. finally install the parking break wire from the pioneer unit to the last slot on toggle switch and this should do the trick if not swap the ground spot for the brake spot on toggle switch >>>> MAKE SURE THE TOGGEL SWITCH HAS 3 HOOK UPS to do this correctly (your system will provide sound with the toggle switch off (Blue Screen) but when toggle switch is on you get video while driving) good luck

My avh-p4000 dvd is not displaying video when i insert dvd's I only recieve audio is there a switch that I need to set to get both audio and video

there is a light green wire that needs to go to the parking brake. video will not work unless the parking brake is on. this is for safety reasons and it is illegal for the driver to view videos while driving.

E-brake

it depends...if you plan on watching dvd's in while parked with your E-brake engaged only then it goes to your E-brake
OR
if you want to watch them while in motion:

and If you have the old firmware then all you need to do is ground the parking brake wire

or if you have the new firmware(just bought the system) a toggle switch is involved:
1 - connect e-brake wire from dvd unit to the switch
2 - connect a ground wire from switch to the unit chassis(any good metal grounding surface will do)
3 - pop in a dvd, toggle the switch back and forth 2 or 3 times depending on what wire you placed where...and voilaa!! your dvd system should work in motion!!

Have a pioneer avh-p3100dvd, how can i make the dvd play while driving

YOU NEED TO BUY A SWITCH FROM WALMART($3), 2 OR 3 PRONG, CONNECT THE GREEN(PARKING BRAKE WIRE) TO THE POWER PRONG ON THE SWITCH AND CONNECT A GROUND WIRE FROM THE GROUND PRONG ON THE SWITCH TO ANY PEICE OF METAL ON YOUR DASH...FLICK THE SWITCH TWO OR THREE TIMES AND NOW YOU CAN WATCH VIDEOS WHILE IN MOTION.

ground the wire to a hot (ie power comes to the wire) switch in your dash, like a rear window defroster or seat heater. turn the switch on then off and it will trick the system into thinking you activated the parking brake.

See videos wile drive in AVH-P5000

These DVD systems have a wire that is connected to the parking brake and gets grounded when the parking brake is engaged to prevent the driver from watching video while driving. Once you engage the parking brake, you can watch the video. The video output still works for an external monitor while driving. These are precautions to keep you safe while driving. somebody watching a video while driving is much more likely to get into an accident.

You cut the green brake wire leading to the brake and get a single pole switch from radio shack wire the green to the power part of the switch and get another piece of wire and ground it some where. when you want to play when driving click the switch and it will play while driving.
