My carrier humidifier has a hose which drains into the laundry sink and a lot of water is coming out. Should this happen in winter? I thought water should only come out in the summer?

The humidifier should run in winter, however if the windows are fogged up it means the humidistat is set too high. Try lowerimg the setting on tue humidistat.

I have a hose attached to the back of the unit and the tank is still filling up, and then of course shuts off when the tank is full. we have checked the hose and the back of the unit where the hose...

Nina, the clog is not in the hose connection. It's in the inner tubing of the unit. When this happens water is diverted to the bucket. to solve this problem, follow the instructions below.

First - Turn the unit OFF & Unplug it.

Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hose connection and the tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reconnect the hose to the unit, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor the hose end for water flow. It may take 10 to 15 minutes for the water to start flowing again.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers
.

I hope this information has helped you to solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Our HCM-640bw Honeywell humidifier will leak water onto the floor. If I fill the tank and let it sit without turning it on, no leaking. When it runs for about two hours it leaks bad. Any ideas on how to...

Found a hairline crack in the water canister. Had to locate by filling the canister and waiting for a couple of minutes for water droplets to form outside the canister. This ever so slight crack allowed air to enter the chamber and made changes to water dispensing rate which overfilled the resevoir over time ( hours). The cracks were not visible under 10X magnification without the water droplets.

Sunbeam Ultrasonic Humidifier, model: 697-6

Located My Manual:
Hope this helps!

1. Remove tank from base. Turn upside down and unscrew filling cap. Fill tank with clean, cool, distilled, or tap water. Water temp should NEVER be too hot or too cold. Return tank to base and let sit for a few minutes. Be sure the filling cap of the tank is tightened firmly.

2. Plug power cord into a 110-120V AC wall outlet only. Turn power switch to "on" position. Power light will illuminate. Turn mist nozzle until desired level is being released. Aim nozzle away from furniture and walls.

3. Always turn humidifier off when water runs* out. Unit will continue to operate when tank is empty.
*Humidifier will run up to 12 hrs on low; 6 hrs on high.

DO NOT LET WATER SIT IN TANK FOR LONG. THIS CAN ENCOURAGE BACTERIAL GROWTH.
Place unit on level surface away from direct sunlight.
DO NOT ADD MEDICATION OF ANY TYPE INTO THE NOZZLE, BASE, OR WATER TANK.
ALWAYS LEAVE ROOM DOOR PARTLY OPEN. DO NOT MOVE, TILT, OR EMPTY WHILE OPERATING.

Mild bleach and water solution for cleaning, never detergent.
Clean every 3rd day during use. Clean after long storage
Humidity varies from room to room. Aim for 30 - 50% relative humidity. If windows/ walls fog or frost, reduce mist intensity. If room too humid, ventilate by opening door or window; adjust mist intensity.
