System hangs / MS Server 2008 R2 SP1 x64

When I can get the Task Manager to run in normal mode, the processors jump continually from 0-100%, yet system idle remains at 98%. Running in Safe Mode, mostly remain at or close to 0%. I have updated to the latest firmware available from Intel. 2 processors, 32GB ram, OS on 464GB Raid 0 , second drive 2.3TB Raid 5.

OK - this fixed it - I had already updated the BIOS, but hadn't found this problem with the imbedded NIC:http://www.intel.com/support/motherboard...

You need to identify what process is causing the high usage, and it has to be done in normal mode. Take your time and sort by usage in Task Manager.

SOURCE: Windows server 2003 - while loading going for dump

No Intel Desktop MBs "officially" support Windows Server Operating System. Having said that, the components on the MB are pretty conventional, and you should be able to build a machine running Windows Server 2003 by manually installing WinXP drivers for the otherwise unsupported features.

It sounds like the original poster wanted to boot off install HDs from another machine without performing an install - I'd strongly suggest starting with a fresh install.

SOURCE: my system is hanged after few minutes

Well the issue could either be with the bas sectors on hard disk or faulty RAM or a burned capacitor on the motherboard.

The very first thing I would suggest you is to reinstall windows operating system. If the issue persists then run the system with another RAM and observe the performance.

if the issue persists then it could be with the motherboard or the power supply. Manually check the capacitors on the board for any leaking or faulty capcitors.

Let me know if you need any further assistance

SOURCE: My Mother is Intel D945GNT with Intel D Processor.

The onboard video chip is dying. Since it's a part of the chipset, it might be also dying. If you're lucky all you need to do is to add a separate video card, disable the onboard video and your problem will go away.

Upgrade win 2003 32 bit to 64bit

You Must do a complete Install there is no other way around this. You must do a complete clean install of the x64 bit server. There is no install-in-place option and the program file system format is different for the 32 and 64 bit versions.

Microsoft suggests this and I have had at least one of my friend's question me on this issue.
