Question about HP LaserJet 4730 MFP Printer
I pressed 'reset to factory settings' yesterday to try and cure a scanning fault yesterday. It didnt cure the fault but after switching off last night, this morning the printer does not seem to communicate with the computer. I think it needs to be reconfigured but I have no idea how to do it. Anyone know how to help me ? My printer is an HP 4730 mfp. In control panel, it is showing offline and when I try to connect using the IP address, it cannot find the printer on the network.
Try reinstalling the printer driver.
You can download the HP printer drivers from their support WEB site. Please click on this link and select your model printer to download :- http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html

Try flashing the firmware: one of the fixes is this - (Improved IP address management of DHCP to Manual changes). See link below.

SOURCE: HP LaserJet 3055 scan over network.
Hi,
If you have installed the printer using Add printer and faxes then you have just install the printer drivers which will allow you to print over the network.
However if you want to scan over the network than you have to install the complete software of the printer .
If you do not have Software CD than you can download and install the software fom Link below.

please do not assign dynamic IP on the network printer. give a static IP on it base on your network config. and also, please do assign all you computers on the network with static IP's so that every time they boot there will be no IP conflict or problem on the network connection.

A
quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the
printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your
computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source
to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try
to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.
If
that doesn't help, try the steps below:
1.
Disconnect the printer from your computer.
2.
Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the
power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30
seconds).
2.
On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
3.
Delete the Lexmark print object.
4.
Reboot your pc.
5.
When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.
6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list again, then try to print again.

Press & hold the power button > unplug the power cable from the back of the printer while holding the button for 30 seconds > plug the cable back then release the button.
A semi-full reset will do the following:
The user settings to the factory defaults, Language and country settings on some models.
Reset the All-in-One to the factory default settings by using these instructions:
1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on.
2. Press and hold OK and HELP buttons while plugging in the power cord.

You can solve this through any computer that can print to the printer.
1. Press Settings on the Control Panel
2. Use the arrow keys on the printer to select " Network Settings" and press the check mark key
3. Use the arrow keys on the printer to select " TCP/IP" and press the check mark key
4. Use the arrow keys on the printer to select " View IP Address" and press the check mark key
5. Write down the IP number displayed on the LCD (i.e. 192.168.1.205)
6. Enter this number in the address bar on computer (i.e. http:/192.168.1.205) and press enter
7. The Lexmark Printer Status page should display
8. Select "Configuration" and "Scan to Network Host Management"
Now you can delete any computer name that is no longer needed.

Thanks guys for all of your suggestions. I decided to ask my computer to search for a network printer and it found it. It seems that the act of resetting the factory settings actually changed the IP address. So, I just reinstalled the printer under a slightly different name and it worked. Hey presto !!Thanks again guys, ur the best.
