CRT problem i see red light on the screen with faded pictures on the back of the screen then goes to red and to black completely so i only here the voice when i block the red crt i see blue screen when i block blue and red i see black screen should i change the green or the red crt

Do you have voltage (3.5V) on the PSON terminal when you push the start button on the TV...if you don't its the main board that has failed

The problem is in the picture tube board circuit. Sometimes the CRT socket doesnt connect well to the CRT pins. Or maybe there have bad solders from RGB transistors. check those transistors, Also the bad thermistor discolored the entire tv screen.

the blue crt has failed most likely. very common with that model.

the number of flashes of the red indicator lamp points to the possible cause of the delay of the raster or picture, but usually it's an indicator of an emission unbalance between crt(picture tube) guns. the picture will take longer to show up as the emission on either of the picture tubes goes down.

What kind of projection tv are we talking about a lamp based unit? or a CRT based one? If it is a lamp based one then you could have a dirty light engine which is expensive to replace. If it is a CRT based one you could have bad convergence IC or one of you tubes is in overdrive and the screen voltage needs to be adjusted.

This monitor is bad replacement is the only option as the CRT monitors are obselete you could get a good deal on one if you are not shopping for a flat panel!

you are experiencing one or more of three things
1.the crt itself is damaged
2. the vertical ic on blue crt board is bad
3. the focus block is bad
if you hire a sony authorized technician they should be well aware of this problem.
