Question about Acer TravelMate 8204WLMi Notebook

1 Answer

Keeps resetting Alright my dad's acer keeps resetting itself. It gets to the startup screen which is the screen with Acer across the middle and is surrounded by a white background etc. Anyways it'll just get to that screen and then it'll reset itself. I can use F2 to enter setup but that's about it. How I think the problem happened: Alright my little brother said something like Itunes wasn't working so he reset the computer. Something came up like an error message or something so I held down the power to shut it off. So was that the fatal mistake or something?

Try pressing F8 on start up this will take you into safe mode, then when the options menu comes up choose 'Last Known Good Configuration' and then press enter, for a restart. If the problem persists the boot.ini file may be damaged and you will need the windows cdrom to repair the system, if you dont have one borrow a copy off a friend and use your license number under your notebook, this is legal; as this is what you pay for not the cd.

Acer aspire one AOA110 tries to start up but keeps looping back to the startup screen. Goes throught a lenghty disk check and goes back to startup screen.

Possible hard drive errors I would say.
Try and start it from your restore disk or your System disk and back up your data them replace the hard drive.
Hope that helps.

My acer computer keeps shuting itself down

Try tapping F8 at startup, and from the list of startup selections, select Safe Mode by using UP Arrow Key to go there > then hit Enter.

Try a System Restore once there, to pick a Restore Point before your problem..

Click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > pick a time previous to last update > Next > etc

Line across middle of screen and series of lines below that overlaying whats active on the monitor. It's a new 23 inch acer

Your screen is made up of layers in which gas is trapped. whenever any side of the screen gets cracked it may not be visible with naked eye. The gas gets released and you get a horizontal straight line blue or black. Initially it starts with a thin line and as the gas releases it keeps on getting broader. If your acer is on warranty try to replace it or else you will have to replace it out of your own pocket.

Acer screen saver keeps coming on while I'm working

It appears that you are losing the video connection between your computer and the the monitor. Remove the conector from the video card and reconnect it again, make sure the connector is firmly secure. If the problem still persists you could have a faulty video card and it needs to be replaced.

If the video card is built in on the motherboard, you still need to purchase a new video card (buy a AGP graphics card), insert into the AGP slot of your computer, you may need to disable the onboard graphics card - go into the BIOS to do this, and you need to install the new graphics card driver.

I want to reset my acer aspire T660 to factory setting like when it was first new

When you get the 'acer' screen at startup Hold down ALT and keep pressing F10. You need to be quick, it took several attempts for me. This takes it back to factory settings.
