HP P4014n How to change default tray

I have An envelope tray, tray 1 and tray 2. When I want to print something from tray 2 it says to load paper in tray one and I have to punch buttons in order for it to print from tray 2. What I would LIKE is to have tray 2 as the default tray and only pull from tray one when I load it. This was all working until I had an authorized HP dealer come out and work on it...now it is FULLY messed ip.

The reason it isn't pulling from tray 2 which automatically is automatically the default tray is because the pick up rollers are bad. Replace them and you will be all set.

Check the media settings for your paper trays. Make sure they are set properly, also check the diver media settings. Is the problem happening with a specific print job? If it is check the page setup for that document.

When you click Print then right click on your HP ptinter - click Properties - Paper Quality tab - click Paper source and select Tray 2 - Click OK - then OK to print.
You can change the paper type in Tray 2 into Tray 1 and vice versa to save going into Properties to change the Tray selection.

Xerox phaser 7400DN jabs at fuser

The printer trays accommodate most sizes and types of paper, transparencies, or other
specialty media. Follow these guidelines when loading paper and media in the trays:
- Envelopes, labels, and glossy paper can be printed from Tray 1 (MPT) only.
- Transparencies and custom size paper can be printed from Tray 1 (MPT) and Tray 2.
- Fan paper, transparencies, and labels prior to loading them in the tray.
- Use only paper envelopes. All envelopes should be printed single-sided only. Some
wrinkling and embossing may occur when printing envelopes.
- Do not overload the paper trays.
- Adjust the paper guides to fit the paper size.
- If excessive jams occur, use paper or other media from a new package.

Step 2 : Load Envelopes

Check the Paper Handling Menu. The Tray 1 size and Tray 1 Type should be set to Any Size. This means that the printer should pull the paper from Tray 1 first when paper is loaded in tray 1

Can't print DL envelopes on a Pixma iP4600

Hi ...

If you like to print DL envolopes, check the below 3 points and I am sure you will be able to print from your printer.

Prepare the printer:
  1. Open the Rear Tray and pull out the Paper Support. Put your finger in the rounded indent of the Paper Support and pull it out until it stops. (See <1> in Figure 1 below.)

  2. Open the Paper Output Tray. Put your finger in the rounded indent beside the Paper Output Tray and open it gently. (See <2> in Figure 1 below.)

  3. Open the Output Tray Extension. Open up and set the Output Tray Extension completely by pressing down the hollow on its front side. (See <3> in Figure 1 below.)

  4. Adjust the position of the Paper Thickness Lever. Set it to the right when printing on envelopes or T-shirt transfers, and left when printing on any other type of paper. (See <4> in Figure 1 below.)

Preparing Envelopes to Load:
  1. Press down firmly on the edges of the envelopes to make the folds crisp. Also, press firmly on the area that corresponds to the edges of the back flap.

  2. Remove any curling by holding the edges diagonally and bending them gently.

  3. If the edges of the envelope are inflated or are curling, place the envelope on a flat surface. With a pen, press down while moving it from the center toward the edges of the envelope.

  4. Ensure that no curl or puff exceeds 1/8 in. (3 mm).

Address envelopes correctly

I'm running Vista and I thought there MUST be a way to print envelopes! So, this is how I figured out how to print envelopes perfectly! No doubt, this would be how the manual would instruct, but it's apparent that none of us are able to locate our printed copies, right? Guilty as charged!

Slide paper tray out; remove paper you have loaded in your tray. Set envelope in tray (face down, with top of envelope flush left) and adjust both side bars (designated as "1" in paper tray diagram - visible when all paper is removed from paper tray) so that they are flush against envelope. Slide back bar (designated as "2" in paper tray diagram - visible when all paper is removed from paper tray) so that it is flush with edge of envelope. Click print.

Believe defaults are set to #10 envelope. Envelope options - check / click on the following: face up, clockwise rotation and "Feed from" Auto Select. Click on / highlight the 5th envelope depicted in the top row of envelope examples.
