I had the same problem but solved it by connecting the apparently dead Fuze to a power charger for better than a week. Then I held the on/off button for 20+ seconds to do a reset and it came back alive and started acting normally including taking a charge from either the wall power or USB

Battery : Remove the back and check and see if the battery isn't fully connected I put a folded peace of paper and put it on top of the battery and put the back on.
Hold the the on/off button up for about 10-20 seconds and it should turn off. then you can just turn it on again. I fit doesn't work, then just wait for the battery to die and charge it back up.
There's a problem with the charging jack . You need to replace it . If that didn't help , then try replacing the battery . If the battery is dead then that could happen also .
Take out the battery put it back in, actually is there a battery you can take out? Oh well if so then try, then check USB cable, if that doesn't work call it in.
I would charge the Fuze fully before first use, actually this is what is recommended. You'll know when it is finished, as you will get a full green battery icon displaying. The players are not fully charged when first shipped.
