Question about Olympus Camedia C-2100 Ultra Zoom Digital Camera
The screen shows card- cover open. when the memory card cover is closed.- I will need some instructions on how to fix it.-
SOURCE: "Card-cover open" error message
It's when putting the card in.. typically you put it in and it clicks (so to speak).. if you delay removing your finger-push, it does something to the card and makes a Disconnect, although in looking at it, it looks just fine.. and the cover closes... A lot of people are reporting 'door open' errors. The micro-switch in the door housing is quite sensitive and pressure shifts from your hand on the door can cause it to trigger as if the door were opened. some get progressively worse. One fix is to add a little bit of length to the plastic that contacts the switch, either a layer of tape or a drop of epoxy, etc. This may help (or may not if the switch itself is flaky). Another fix discussed bypassing the switch altogether, obviously not for the faint of heart (or cameras in warrantee).

The card door sensor is either damaged, failing or gone completely. You can take camera apart, (7 screws I think) take the back off. Sensor is at the back of camera near the battery door. If sensor is missing, you will see 2 spots on the electronics board where it was connected. Carefully melt solder so that those two points are connected. If sensor is still in place it's probably damaged. Carefully remove sensor using small snips or something like that, with out damaging anything around sensor. Then solder 2 points together. Good Luck

Have same problem when camera is used underwater. Take out battery and xd card. Put camera in front of fan with lid open and facing fan for several hours.

on the above image you can see how I solved this problem. I used the way discribed in solution #2. I first broke off the little box and then added the little copper wire contacting the piece of iron at its left. Now my camera works again.

Ok, you do not have to do any desodering or sodering. Take the camera cover off 7 screws. Where the switch is there is a white box where the broken switch was. Gentley lift the top of the little box and wiggle it so it breaks off. There are 2 little connectors on each side of the box. bend them up and work the rest of the box off. bend the connectors back where they were, take a smal piece of electic wire and wrap it around each of those posts. I used tweezers. No more "card door open" error. This by passes it.
