GDS80904BNA Goodman furnace only cylces off for a minute

5 year old furnace, just bought house 10 months ago. Furnace worked worked great for first 2 months, then went out. Professional service changed circuit board and checked whole unit over ($800.00). Passed everything ok. Furnace will turn on ok and heat ok. Will only shut off for a mintue or 2 and turn cycle back on again. Thermostat has not even dropped 1 degree. Changed thermostat with high $ Honeywell not trying to be cheap. Problem didn't change. Furnace company has been back 3 times for $120.00 each to tell me ducts and cold air returns need rerouting. I explained that the furnace worked GREAT and CYCLED PROPERLY for first 2 months but nobody is listening. I am master certified auto tech and have diagnostic capabilities! Willing to pay pro to fix, what advise can I give them?

Sounds like your repair man ripped you off. He should have stood behind his work.
1. I would try to clean the flame sensor located just below the burners. It is connected to "one" wire (Not the two wire) clean rod with sandpaper.
2. The old and thermostat could have a had a bad heat anticipator. if the new t/stat is not digital the heat anticpator on the T/stat needs to be adjusted. slide the small adjuster arm under the cover to about .6 or .7 and see if the solves the problem. if the t/stat is digital it should be preset from the factory.
3. last resort have a service man check your pressure swith. could be a slow inducer motor, blocked or bad vacum line, or a restricted drain or flue pipe.
Good luck!

Goodman furnace

Sounds like the furnace is tripping off on a limit safety, either temperature or air switch. Check filters and restrictions to air flow (furniture over return air grills, blocked filters) also, check the drainage line of the system. If the furnace can't drain water fast enough it will back up internally, and trip the system off on a pressure switch safety.

hope this helps.

The blower fan on my furnace runs all day ,,, and on the trouble its said if light stay on that its incorrect twinning / polarity what do I do...and i bought a new board for if and still the same thing

You may have a bad ground or neutral wire in the circuit breaker panel for your house. Chack all wire connections and make sure that the black wire from your breaker panel connects to the black wire of the furnace. Check all ground wires in the furnace.

I have a Goodman GMP125-5 furnace. A year ago, my circuit board was replaced by a repairman. He also replaced the heat exchanger, because he said it was cracked. It worked great until about a month ago....

it would sound like the pressure switch is not working you can take off ther tubes and by hand put a small drill bit in the and clean the switch , some times this works , on some you can jump out the switch and try and fool it in too working

I have a builder installed Goodman GDS80904BHA that is approximately 5 years old. Recently, when the furnace completes a heat cycle, approximately 1-2 minutes after the cycle has completed and after the...

I would guess that the fan off setting on your limit is set a little to high. If you have the manual you can see what it says about changing the running time for the fan after the burner has shut off look on the control board and you should see two switches, one to set the time for burners to fire before main blower starts and one to set time for fan to run after burners shut off. To help with the problem you are describing set fan run time up so fan wii run longer. Hope this helps. Thaks.

Goodman GDS80904BNA LED Blinks 3 Times

had similar problems with same furnace. I think the 3 blinks is high limit event. either way with the power off to the furnace remove the board from the 4 clips holding it on one at a time then turn it over and look at it you will be able to tell if the board is bad because it will appear scortched and the resin will be bubbled up where it went bad. replace board and you will be fine. went through 2 in 2 years all of a sudden they are being made by a different company from the original and the 1st replacement. now all is fine. Take a good picture of the board close up so you can reconnect all the wires properly. Friend of mine got it from a wholesaler for $55.00

I HAVE A USED GOODMAN GMS8 FURNACE I HAD INSTALL IN MY HOUSE WITH AIR THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING IS THE BLOWER RUNS ALL THE TIME KNOW WHAT ???? HELP ME PLEASE

Check your themostat. The fan switch may be in the on position and not in the auto. If that is not the problem, try turning the power off to the furnace, wait 1 minute and turn the power on. It may have went into a lock-out which causes the blower to run.

Need the cubic inches for the return air duct

For proper minimum opening you need to do duct calculation. This is not a typical math equation for the typical homeowner. And unfortunately alot of contractors do not take the time to calculate this.
If you insist on doing this yourself...... I would recommend the largest opening that a common filter will fit. probably 20" by 25". Going to big on a return air will never hurt. But going to small will.
20" x 25" will work safely 95% of the time. But... If you are running airconditioning that is 5 tons in size, you will need the design a return air system that will feed from BOTH sides of the furnace.

If you are just sizing the trunk line you should use a ductulator to calculate the minimum size. A good rule of thumb would be to size the "return air" trunk 1 - 1 1/2 times the size of the supply trunk line.

Goodman furnace

sounds like the fan switch in the furnace is coming on and off. This is common for Goodman. or could be the heat anticipator on the t-stat. While there are several reasons this happens these are the most common.
