SOURCE: MY SONY DAV-SB300 DOES NOT

Hi.

Check carefully power cord connection. That is often the reason for no power problem.

If the power cord is OK the problem is a defective power board. Sometimes it is possible to see visually that the power board is defective because the capacitors on board look bulged. Before testing the power board it is necessary to disconnect power and to discharge PSU capacitors shorting the capacitors contacts with a screwdriver. Example of discharge points are shown below:

After that, if there is nothing unusual at a glance, testing will follow reading impedance on single components and circuit. Testing starts from power cord impedance (it must read zero from plug's prongs to solder joints on PSU), resistors and diode in AC section of PSU, near to the power cord attachment. Next part of testing is done with power on, tracking voltage from AC section of PSU down to connectors in DC-DC section of PSU. For safety reasons testing must be done by a trained person.

How do I connect Sony S590 3D Blu Ray to Analog TV & Sony DAV-DX255 Home Entertainment Center

It depends what connections the TV has. If it has HDMI sockets then you should be able to connect the player via one of them. The sound should be connected using an optical lead from the player to the Sony Center.
However you will not be ever be able to play a 3D movie till you have a 3D TV. It will simply not work.
So at the moment you have purchased a an expensive 3D player which can only play back normal Blu-Ray's and DVD.

Speakers all crackle duing dvd play. Sound thru speakers during tv programming is fine

Common problem, not an easy solution. It needs a 208pin micro replaced. Its a job for a pro. I think the part is around 70 and labor should be less than 100. Sorry for the bad news.
I didn't make em' just fixed em'

Speakers Crackling and system keeps going to standby.

Hi,
It sounds like you may have a problem with the sound pc board. If the system shuts down or goes into a stand by mode, then it means the system is detecting an internal problem and is shutting itself down to avoid any further damage. You may need to have it serviced but that could be a little expensive. You can always buy a used replacement receiver if the speakers and sub is still working good.
Hope that helps.

After a while the system starts crackling and eventually sound deteriorates to thundering in speakers

Hi, I have exactly the same prob and I belive that it is in the amp module?! I am going to take mine in for repair as my other sony HT amp has just give up the ghost, (STR-DE435), it has a protector prob and is probably not worth repairing, although it is a great amp. If anyone knows the solution to this prob it would be great to hear it!!!
