Is there an adapter of some sort that i can use to connect the antenna wire protruding from my IVA-D300, which consists of several wires to the existing stock antenna on my new 99 chev p/u? if not, what exactly is this type of antenna wire called and where could i purchase one?
There are connectors for that that I beleive are solder on, the link is below. It is basically coax cable and the way i have fixed them in the past is to take a basic ant extension and then cut it and with the side I need (M or F) strip the insulation and seperate the wire and then solder them together and wrap them in electrical tape. There are two leads, the positive which is in the center and the negative on the outside. You can purchase one of these extensions from any car audio shop or you could also take the radio to a car audio shop and have them do it as well. The shops usually don't sell the regular solder on ends as in the link below. And these guys only sell them in 5 packs. See the UV-45 in this link. http://www.installer.com/antenna/
