Check the DVD player to ensure that you do not have a DVD
disc inserted into the device. Press the "Eject" button and lift out any DVD
present in the device.
Turn off your JVC DVD player.
Unplug the device from the power source.
Examine the front or rear of your DVD player and note the
model number.
Reset your particular device using the "DVD Reset Procedures"
documentation provided by JVC (see Resources). Cross-reference your particular
device's model number with the instructions provided within the reset procedure

The disc lock function has been activated on your JVC XV-N320, when in this mode the tray cannot be opened or closed.
If you press the 'eject' button whilst pressing down the 'stop' button on the machine in standby mode the disc lock will deactivate. To turn it back on you follow the same procedure. This is also described in the user manual for this model of TV umder trouble shooting on page 13.
When you press the eject botton while pressing down the stop botton on the unit in
standby mode, the tray lock function is activated. The disc tray
cannot be opened or closed in this status. To release this
status, press the eject botton while pressing down the stop botton on the unit in standby
mode.
Though it may be different for different models, the JVC XV-N40 DVD Player LOCK can be disengaged (and engaged) by pressing the [EJECT] button while holding-down the [STOP] button. Yes, it's that simple but I had to search online to find it too.
Here's a link to the material that comes with the player in the box: http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/00/96/GNT0027-001A.pdf
Hi there, I just had the same problem with my daughter, looked in the manual and it says to hold down the stop button and press the eject button on the unit. That should unlock it, its the same procedure to lock it, in case you want to prevent you daughter from attempting to play biscuits!!

darren
