Black screen at and after bootup
SOURCE: Monitor is Flickering and screen becomes pink
Hi this is the way how to examine what's wrong with your LCD
monitors. Power on both CPU
and monitor. After it goes back to white, you have to
check that if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a
flashlight into the
screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a
look very
closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor
problem. I used to check my LCD monitor and could see window image
using flashlight and found out that Some
of CCFL lamps inside were broken and it is very easy to replace. If you
cannot see anything on
the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If you have
soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It
may
cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burn spot on the
board
because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better
go get a
technician to do so.
Thank you,
Tan

Hi
I repair monitors
Based on other models , it sounds like you are having a powerboard-inverter issue.
It just so happens that I hjust got one in that's doing that, I should
know in a day or two (maybe sooner) what the whole story on this model
is.
Good timing !!??

If your picture was okay when it was running and the screen was not pinkish then the power board inside the monitor is in need of an overhaul.
Your unplugging it and plugging it back in just did a temporary reset by discharging the capaciotrs for a bit.
It more than likely needs new capacitors installed.
I have done a few of these and do a lot of inverter power board repairs through ebay id bammbammfran

I called tech support and it was suggested to send the acer AL2017 monitor back to them to make repairs to the circuit board.
SOURCE: Got a flickering in my video, installed brand new
I had this problem once. Turned out to be the VGA plug connecting to the computer. Make sure this is inserted at the computer properly. Wiggle the plug and see if that effects the monitor display. If it does, then replace the VGA lead. Also check that your video card is inserted properly and go into the BIOS on your computer and make sure that the onboard Video chip is disabled (if your motherboard has one). If all this doesnt correct the fault, try uninstalling and installing the video driver again. If you are still having problems you may have a faulty video card.
