Compaq Compaq Presario CQ62 white screen

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside thejack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have totake the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto themotherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

How do I "wake" up my computer from sleep or hibernation?

There are different ways that work, try and see what works for yours. Sometimes all you have to do is hit the space bar, press the enter key, hit any key, close the lid and open the lid and some require you to Press the Power Button. Don't worry pressing the power button will not reboot the computer unless you continuously hold it down. Just pressing and releasing it will cause the computer to wake up and resume.

I accidentally put my Compaq 6715 b laptop into hibernation. I don't know how I did it or how to bring it out of hibernation.

You need to hit the power button just the once to bring it back out of hibernation mode. It may take around 30 seconds until you hear your computer starting to boot back up and a little longer for the screen to come on.

Failing this, you can try a hard reboot by holding down the power button until you hear your computer re-boot. Usually you need to hold around 10 seconds. However using this last method as a final resort will result in your computer telling you that it did not shut down properly.

My HP compact nc6000 laptop went to Hiberating mode and i don't know how to fix the problem. If i could please get help that would be great. i just got this laptop yesterday. it was working but all of...

Hi Jessica,

Hibernation mode usually turns the computer off but saves any work. Then you would start it back up by hitting the power button, it will boot up and you log in like normal and the computer should be as it was before it went into hibernation.

If you can't get it out of hibernation by pressing the power button, try holding the power button for 5-10 seconds. The laptop may actually still be on, and holding the power button will cut if off. Once the computer is back on you can change the battery options(hibernation/turn off settings) in Windows by going to the bottom right task bar and right clicking on the battery icon. Normally you will have an option like "power saving settings", "battery settings". In this setting window you can turn off hibernation due to inactivity.

Let me know if you have any questions.

My hibernation option is gone.....

Hibernation may be disabled by default in XP.

Go into Start > Settings > Control Panel > Power Options. Click on the Hibernate tab, then check the Enable Hibernation check box to enable it.

Otherwise:

You can start hibernation of your PC manually, if hibernation is enabled, by:
1. Selecting 'Turn Off The Computer'' from the Start menu.
2. Normally the left choice on the resulting pop-up window is ''Stand-By''. But, if you hold down the Shift key it becomes ''Hibernate''. So holding down the Shift-Key and clicking on the resulting ''Hibernate'' button (the left-most button) will cause your computer to start hibernation mode.

Note that many computers also have a button for starting hibernation mode also. Often pressing the Power button while the computer is on will cause it to go into Hibernation. (Sometimes desktop computers have this option disabled, but it can be enabled through some Setup menu item (unless a special key has been assigned to do it on the keyboard.)

Hope helpful.

I am unable to unhibernate

Power down the computer and power back up. Lets just shut hibernation off...you can always just have the computer sleep...it is much better on the system anyway.

Shutting Down Hibernation

Go to the control panel > Power Options > Hibernation tab > uncheck hibernate…this way you save a lot of disc space and don’t have to go through all the intermittent hibernation problems that occur. After you uncheck hibernation, you can go to the other power options and change how the computer reacts to the lid being closed, when it sleeps and for how long before sleep kicks in. Make sure to change the setting for what happens when lid closes to “do nothing” this will keep the laptop alive even though you close the lid to move it, etc.
