No picture on Zenith Z50PX2D(have sound) connected to Onkyo TX-NR616 with hdmi

I just purchased the Onkyo TX-NR616 and hooked up my Zenith Z50PX2D to the HDMI ARC output into the HDMI input on tv. I connected my Comcast issued box (DCT6200) also to the Onkyo with DVI output from the cable box with HDMI input to Onkyo and ran the digital optical cable for audio. No picture. It will flash for a few seconds and then No Signal appears. While flashing I can make out a Onkyo message saying HDMI may be compromised try connecting with Yr....etc componet cables. I thought it was the Onkyo since I took the first one back, same problem again. I also get invalid format with my new Panasonic BD/DVD player ....also hooked up to Onkyo via HDMI. What could be the issue? Settings?

SOURCE: Zenith Z42P3 "Invalid Format" message from upconverter DVD

Ran into the same problem with this DVD player and my LG tv. Try this:
Open the DVD tray, with the DVD tray open press the HDMI select button until the proper resolution for your tv is illuminated, put the DVD back in, close the tray and try again. Simple fix -- worked beautifully for me.

Good luck

Onkyo tx-sr604 help

You said you tried hooking the HDMI up directly from the TV to each component, and that worked. How is it usually hooked up - through some kind of switch? I'm not completely understanding your setup here.

I have a onkyo TX-NR616 receiver which has now for some reason has no sound when fist switched on, however if left on for about 15 minutes then turned off and straight back on again then after a few s

There is an extended warranty coverage that Onkyo is providing on receivers manufactured between 2009-12. Not sure if the TX-NR616 is included, but here is a thread from the AVS forum on the problem:

Onkyo tx-nr616

harder to do but you can probably still use the display on the unit.
I am unfamiliar with the onkyos but am often setting up integras which are basically onkyos.

Find the setup button on the face of the receiver. It might be called different things but basically you will call up the settings and use the arrows - enter - and return to navigate in and out of the menu options.

Integras have that will allow you to;
configure connected speakers
- sub yes-no
- center yes - no
- rear surround yes-no
- speaker size small-large

input config (mapping audio, video connections to the input names)
ex:
- "Cbl/Sat" -> HDMI 1 - 4
- "BD/DVD" -> HDMI 1 - 4

etc.

You'll get the hang of it.

OR - do you have a small TV with a composite video connection?

I carry around a portable Coby battery powered monitor that has a composite video input for these types of problems. Composite video is always active.

Good luck!

Onkyo receiver is not starting up hdmi from receiver to tv

run an HDMI cable from TV direct to DVD or other HD source instead of going through Onkyo. If it works, you have a bad HDMI output on the Onkyo. If not you may have a bad cable or a bad port on TV. Then try a different HDMI input on TV.

If I would buy a Onkyo TX-NR616 in the US (110V) and take it Europe (220V), wouldn't it be a solution to simply exchange the power transformer for a 220v one?

An stepdown transformer is needed should you buy in US and use it Europe

However, if your on a technical side , trace the primary windings , and check

There are European versions which are already 220V, no need to convert.

No audio from pc connected using hdmi

Are you not getting audio to the television speakers and the onkyo reciever speakers when connected HDMI thru the reciever or just the television. If it is just thru the television then it is because the reciever is grabbing the HDMI audio signal and converting it so it does not reach the TV. If it is both then try changing the HDMI signal output from PCM to DOLBY DIGITAL on the computer. Your reciever may not be able to process the PCM signal of the computer. Does the reciever show a PCM or DOBLY DIGITAL display when HDMI is hooked up to it?
