Turn knob to set on "Match"
Pull out crown knob.
Press both buttons for 3 seconds.
When you release both buttons it will beep and both hands start moving.
Press either button to stop movement.
Then press the top button to set the minute hand to 12 oclock.
Press the bottom button to set hours to 12.
Press in crown and turn to "Time"
Pull out crown and set time the same way.

I just replaced the battery in my 20yr old Seiko chrono sports 100. And I had the same problem. I think I stopped it on 12 while in stopwatch mode and held down the start stop button and the set button at the same time. See if that works dude.
