Question about Bosch Axxis WTL 5410 Electric Dryer

Open Question

How do i remove the top panel from a bosch wtl5410 dryer?

I've removed the 4 screws in the back, and lifted the back of the top panel, but towards the front the top panel is still attached - there is a tab (or something) on each side and i'm not sure how to release these 2 tabs. I don't want to just yank on the top panel for fear of breaking something. Thanks.

Open front panel, remove heat exchanger and clean.
Unplug the dryer. remove the panel in the back of the dryer that covers the heating element. ( the inner panel). On top of the heating element you will see a thermal sensor with a small red button on it. Thats the manual reset button To test if the heating element is working properly you can disconnect the wires from the sensor and clip the connectors together . Plug the dryer back in and start it. pay attention to the heating element. It should begin to glow shortly. if it doesn't then your heating element is bad and needs to be replaced.

Unplug the dryer. Connect the wires back to the thermal sensor. Plug the dryer back in. Before you start the dryer, press the red button on the switch. This is your reset button. Start the dryer. If the heating element doesn't come on and dryer doesn't heat, then you need to replace that sensor.

How do I clean dryer squirrel cage?


To remove drum/fan drive motor:

• Remove rear panel & rear air duct. Remove belt from belttensioner. Remove top panel & drum if needed for better access.
• Disconnect terminal connector from motor, then remove two screws from motor mount & one screw holding fan to front shield. Lift rear of motor mount up and slide entire assembly toward rear of dryer.
• While holding motor shaft, not rotor fins, remove fan blade from motor shaft. Remove three screws, then remove fan housing from motor.
• Remove spring clamps by pushing ends of them down and away from motor. Lift motor up from motor mount.

Cage motor is the best blow out with compressed air. Also, by the way, clean the fan housing from the inside.

Remove the screws on top panel in the back. Take top off. Then remove screws on inside of front panel. Release the belt from the tensioner. Now lift up on the drum and pull forward. Now you should have access.

You can visually verify this specific type because the lint screen is located inside the dryer requiring you to open the door to gain access to it. As with any do itself repair, always unplug the machine before you start. Here's the method of access listed in numerical order. 1) Remove the lower kick plate by pressing in the two clips, one on each side located in between the upper and lower portion of the front In doing this you'll gain access to the element, located on the right hand side facing, the high limit and thermostat fuse located on the element, the cycling thermostat, located on the blower housing, and thermal fuse, located next to the cycling thermostat. Where is the fuse located in my Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II Dryer? It keeps shutting off the breaker, and it has never done this before. It runs alone sometimes... But whenever both washer and dryer...


The washer is a 115vac machine and the dryer is 220vac. This means that they are supposed to be on two different circuits, the washer having about a 20 amp breaker and the dryer having a 30 amp. If they share the same breaker then you should be calling an electrician, because that in itself is a safety hazard. With that said here is the answer to your question:

Chances are either the idler pulley is getting too worn or the motor, which I've seen in a few rare cases is making the squeeking noise you are refering to. I'll post a walk-through on how to access the inside of the dryer, I believe yours is the the first design I talk about.

The way to visually see if the belt has broken or not is to 1) unplug the dryer. 2) Remove the lint screen on the top of the dryer. 3) take the two phillips head screws out where the lint trap is. 4) with a flat head screwdriver pop the top of the dryer up by sliding the driver inbetween the top and front of the dryer and pry upwards a little. 5) You'll now see the drum, if the belt is not around it its broken, and if it's visible try to lift it. If it taught, its good. IF THE BELT IS BROKEN OR LOOSE CONTINUE TO NEXT STEPS 6) on the left and right upper inner sides of the dryer you will find two screws, one on each side, remove these and the front should be easlily remove. 7) once off you'll be able to easily see the motor, the belts idler pulley, and everything else. If the dryer is a DUET or HE2 or HE3 style, (dryers that match the front loader) then the way you take the top off is a little different. For these machines, there are 3 to 4 screws located on the top back side you'll need to remove, and then the dryer top can be slid back and removed

Need to convert from natural gas to propane


Take 3 screws out of bottom side of Z shaped metal part on the back of the dryer's top. Stand in front of dryer and use the palms of your hands to sharply push dryer top back about 2 inches and lift top off. Open door and remove screw at 4 and 8 O'Clock position. Remove control panel (ususally 2 screws and a bunch on retaining plastic parts along the top side) and set on top of dryer or unplug electrical plugs and set aside. Remove screws at top of front panel. Unplug light bulb and door switch. Tilt front panel forward and lift off bottom tabs, then unplug moisure sensor wire at bottom, allowing front panel to be set aside. Remove 4 screws at sides of drum support assembly, lift up and off. Release belt, and remove drum. (easier to do if flat metal part originally right behind control panel is removed first) Use belt as a handle and lift drum out of dryer, allowing access to burner assembly. Change burner orfice and regulator blocker. Re-assemble and test.

Not too bad. Unplug. Remove three screws along back, at top edge. Stand in front of dryer and, using the palms of your hands, push back sharply on the top (L & R sides) to slide it back about 2 inches, then lift top off. Remove 2 phillips head screws at 5 and 7 O'clock position behind door. Remove screws holding top control from top corners. Pull top of control panel loose from retaining clips along top. (watch for sharp edges) Set control panel on top of dryer. Remove 4 screws now accessable at top of front panel. Un-plug light, door switch, lift front panel off, and unplug sensor at bottom. Set front panel aside. Remove 4 screws at front of side panel holding front bulkhead (with drum rollers attached), lift up bulkhead and remove. Reach under drum to unhook belt. Remove drum. The hardest part is pobably hooking the belt back on with the tension pulley while reassembling. On a scale of 1 - 10, it rates about a 5.5. First one might take an hour and a half. If you've done a few, you can knock 'em out in about 20 minutes.
