How to light pilot for oven in 1950's roper delux
If it is an insta-light, I just rebuilt a Roper that age, the instructions are to turn off oven heat control, wait two minutes, locate red button which you have done, apply match to pilot, depress red button for 5 seconds and that should keep pilot light on, the instruction manual states to hold match for 60 seconds prior to pushing button, then hold for 5 seconds, either way, you don't want to flood the area with raw gas, and yet still apply enough heat long enough to lock in pilot, has the gas line been loose? Make sure it is purged of air, again, don't flood area with raw gas, it is pretty typical pilot procedure, the worst part is finding the red button, usually behind a burner cover. So try holding the button a bit longer with your match on it, some take a while, worst is the control has gone bad, but there are replacement valves for this vintage, I did check,
