I have 500GB LaCie Rugged Safe , and I seem to have forgotten my password, nevertheless, the fingerprint still works fine and I still remember my login name . Please help me to reset my password
You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password and privileges. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ http://67.20.82.163/

SOURCE: Fingerpring login problem
I have an alternative workaround to downgrading the software version.
This error message tells you that the system is recognising this finger print and it is associated to a computer name different than the one you are trying to log in.
But if you execute "Init --> Programs --> Lenovo Care --> Lenovo Fingerprint software" and you register a different finger print to the one is arising the error (you have ten fingers, haven't you?) and later on you use that alternative finger to log in you will not have any problem.
Well, just take care and not make more than 10 changes of computer name.

SOURCE: Forgot my Verisoft Logon Password
Hi,
Not sure if you got this sorted, but all i did as i couldn't remember my pasword and could only login using fingerprint
go to
Start
type 'CMD'
Right Click and select run as administrator
In the command window type NET USER XXXXX welcome01
Where XXXXXX is your user Name
This will force the change of password, and doesnt mess with Verisoft. Now to confirm it's worked go to
Start
Control Panel
Users
Select Change password
in old password type 'welcome01'
in new type which ever you require as your password, it will accept the change.
This worked for me 100%
Cheers
Alan

To remove or change the Windows password is not easy to do, but can be done with Linux Password Removal program. You need a computer savy friend to help you.
The other way is to install Windows from scratch again to get a working laptop again but you may lose your data. There is a way to retrieve your data before you install Windows again.
If you didn't protect the hard drive with a password and if you did and still know your BIOS password, THEN go into the BIOS setup and remove the password on the hard drive first.
Then remove the hard drive from the laptop and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter. Insert the adapter into a working computer's USB port and the computer will see this as an external hard drive. You can then open the folders and view your files. Copy the various folders and files you require to a USB memory stick and/or burn these to a CD etc.
Now you can return the hard drive back to the laptop, install Windows, the device drivers, your programs and copy the data back into the laptop.
It pays to backup your data regurarly because if the hard disk fails and this can happen unexpectedly, you will lose your data.
The most common way that most of us know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing a battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased. hope this helps
