Magnum Delta Force Radio: The schematic does not match what is on my work bench! Schematic shows 10 tact switches, there are eight on the unit. If I trace back the leads from the rotary frequency changer then they go to different pins on the micro processor than those shown on the diagram. I am only repairing this radio as a favour, I am not making any cash out of it so I may give up shortly (not like me, I usuallly find the fault!) There must be more than one "Version" of the Magnum Delta Force? How do I know what I've got? Where do I get a full schematic/ drawing?

Hi, thanks for responding. The serial number on the back of the Magnum Delta Force radio that I am repairing is 02030099. The problem is in the system control, it will TX/RX perfectly but the micro does not change channels via the chan up/down knob. It looks like someone has played with it a bit (Ahh!) but I am used to repairing equipment that HAS to be repaired even if it takes WEEKS (My day job is testing and fault finding on things like electron microscope power supplies, costing £10,000+) It would make life easier if I had a proper schematic and layout for this Magnum radio. Cheers

Thanks for getting back to me. I already tried the schematic at cb tricks. If you trace back the connections from the switches in the switch matrix then some of them go to different pins on the micro processor. Also the numbers of the switches on the pcb do not match their functions on the diagram. The schematic shows two switches for up/down frequency change which are in parallel with the rotary chan knob, these do not exist on the unit I have! Perhaps there is more than one version of the Magnum Delta Force?

I cant call or receive with my magnum delta force cb radio in the am settings please help

What antenna are you using? What is the SWR on the antenna? Note that the swr wont necessarily affect Transmit but it will show if there is a general antenna problem like a short, that could be causing this. Otherwise it is an issue that needs to be diagnosed in depth on a test bench.

Powering the Yaesu FT-11R

The battery select determines whether you're using a NiCd or Alkaline battery, I believe the "adjust" is used to put the radio into service mode. If there's not an "auxiliary power input" you can hook up the bench supply to, check the battery output for the voltages and polarities, and hook up your supply accordingly.

Magnum delta force

What you saw smoke was the protection diode. I do not have one of these radios and have not worked on one yet, but most radios are the same where the protection diode is located on the pc board, one the components side, close to where the wire from the main power positive pin is soldered into the pc board.

I will have to do a little research to see if I can come up with the number of the diode. I have a couple of diagrams and a schematic from cbtricks.com. If I can not located it from their informaiton, I can contact my supplier Monday to see if he can tell me the number. If you happen to located the burnt diode before I come up with the information, please respond so I will know.
